Iceborne isn't exactly the peak of difficulty. Fatalis is a gimmick fight.

Although I do have to admit that Rise Valfalk is comparable to a G-rank Valfalk from GU due to all the stat inflations present in Rise, so in Sunbreak he'll be even harder, but by no means unfair.

the peak of difficulty is subjective , the difficulty in world comes from the learning curve which once learned the fights become enjoyable and fair, there's a method to the madness, but with Valstrax his design is so child like....attacks with follows ups, and even the follow ups have follow ups preventing the use of counters or proper punishers... this is such a trash fight

take Velkana for example, every attack leaves open a window for you to do something but when Valstrax does his football field wing sweep out of the blue or instantly turns around and aimbots you with his ground stab what can you do ?? half the time i don't even see this crap coming, it's not enough to cart me but enough to make this a trash experience which i feel i haven't learned anything other than that Valstrax is dumb af

Fatalis is a slow power house.
Valstrax is a faster paced monster.
700 hours into one game doesn't make you a god player, it just means you've got more experience, just like Hunter Ranks mean nothing other than how much you've hunted

How many times did you fight Valstrax? Did you do it once and come here to rage or is this multiple hunts in?

Valstrax is one of the harder hunts in the game but he's not BS.

his attacks just seem like they come out of the blue because his animations do a poor job of warning you what he's about to do....i fought him like 10 times and i feel like i haven't learned anything...this is just a dumb fight design

you have a monster with insane range and snappy fast attacks, you can't do that... either have range but slow attacks, in which case if you get hit it's 100% your fault, but when u have range + speed it's like give me a break gtfo

and i feel like he has too many attacks which are similar adding to the confusion and hindering the learning curve ... he does too much crap with his wings , half the time you're just guessing what is happening because you're busy trying to fight him, it's not like you're standing somewhere safe and spectating his animations and behavior , it's different when you're in there trying to hit him and learn at the same time

What weapon are you using? I only used IG and Bow in Rise, Valstrax is easy with both because I can keep hitting it all the time.

I can imagine it being annoying to fight with slow weapons.

Just take some time and figure out his moves. This is a really well designed monster with an easy to read moveset.
