Sword N' Shield, Cluncky?
I can't be the only one, who noticed that Sword N' Shield feels extreamly clunky now. Half the strikes are animation locks you cannot roll out of, you can no longer change direction mid-combo, and I swear they removed a Combo from the normal Attack chain, so it goes directly to the Animation Locked attack, that people actively avoided in MHW.

You just need to know the right combos. I don't main SnS, but I made a set at end game on switch to mess around with. (On xbox controller) Y+B does a spinning slash that you can use to face any direction and in most cases will combo back into Y>Y>B>B for an unlimited blade combo.

Yeah, I noticed that the Spnning Slash now required an additional input.. Which for me half the time instead causes me to do a Charge Attack, instead of changing direction.

The combat just doesn't feel as free and fluent as it did in MHW. Feels like I have to jump through hoops to do something a simple as turning my character mid combo, and for me it really ruins the game.

Has it ever not been clunky?

I’ve never found it clunky. But I do notice it’s harder to correct a poorly oriented perfect rush.

Still trying to perfect the timing on that one uppercut move that does crazy KO damage.

I personally felt it was very fluent in MHW.. Being able to easily change direction mid-combo without any additional inputs, being able to roll-cancel almost every attack... I loved it in World, but it feels so slow, unresponsive and cluncky in Rise.

i felt the same but it takes some time to get used to

i think the rise changes are actually a step forward in terms of changing it up and improving other moves. multiple ways to go into falling bash, and it feels much more consistent to land and even chain repeatedly. Perfect Rush can now be ended with a spinning slash in case you don't wanna get displaced landing the finisher. and the shield bash combo is actually super good. Only downside is that the regular Y slashes are almost entirely irrelevant now because shield bash combo also has a variant that carries status and element. ♥♥♥♥, you can even run mestu shoryugeki and not lose out on KOs with drill slash.

i was hoping that the more moves you squeeze in before ending on the spinning slash the stronger it is, but it turned out that the only thing that matters is the move that comes directly before it. and ofc the shield bash combo ends on the high mv spinning slash.

no, you are just biased toward MHWorld SNS, this moveset is different from world, its a carryover from mhgu, like mh4u, you are locked up in certain animation, its always like been like this, it meant to punish player from over committing. if you find it easy in World, not in Rise, you need to adapt, you need to stop when its time to stop

MHWorld is made different product but same brand, its like COKE Zero
MHrise is COKE Original flavor, feel me?
