For what it's worth i'm gonna talk about my experience so far with MH rise. I played all mh games except mh online and mh frontier. In 2021 i played freedom unite again, 3u and 4u except the G rank and a bit of the ps2 episodes.

For me, the low rank of Rise is easier than the low rank of -> MH1 and MHdos, MHF1 and MH3U
And the low rank of Rise is harder than the low rank of -> MHFU, MHp3rd, MH4U, MHGU

i cannot say if it's easier or harder than the low rank of MH world so... idk, seems equal in difficulty

And so far the high rank of Rise, for me, is easier than the high rank of -> MH1, MHdos, MHF1, MHFU (by far).
But the high rank of Rise is harder than the high rank of -> MH3U, MHp3rd, MHGU
And i think it's equal in difficulty with MH4U and World.
Of course i am not talking about the endgame, just the trip of the high rank TO the endgame.

Imo a lot of people overestimate the difficulty of old MH games, maybe because they played those games when they were kids (so ofc it was hard) or just because their memory isn't the best anymore. There were so many mechanical abuses you could do with the old games, some weapons were so broken (like LS in Rise), the monsters were so telegraphs, so predictable, i mean, the "terrifying" Tigrex of FU is the easiest Tigrex ever, but because everybody played FU when they were kids (so probably bad at video games in general) they remember that Tigrex as a Dark Soul++++ monster.

Again, i am not talking about the pure high rank endgame content, i don't know if the emergency apex in Rise are hard or not (but i heard they are useless).

Also, i am not saying Rise is hard. I'm saying Rise is at a normal MH difficulty state, not hard, maybe too easy sometimes, but that's how MH games are before G rank.

I agree with this.

Of the older MH games I've tried, every fight goes like this:

"I can easily read the limited and dated AI to tell exactly what move its going to do when I stand here, but its still going to hit me anyways because its hitbox is three times bigger than the actual monster."

Then you use a shield weapon and they become a joke because bad hitboxes mean nothing to the block button.

Remember when certain fights were so difficult people a lot of people started "sleep bombing" monsters? That was non G-rank btw, nothing even comes close to that level of stress or setup needed in Rise. I feel like older mh games had different defense values because even just speaking about high rank the high rank monsters here do less damage (basing this on 3rd gen mh).

Also people bring up the controls of older mh games. It's not like it's changed much unless you're only comparing to the portable entries. MH felt solid on ps2, I never felt the need to "claw" or anything. Then on wii, I just used the pro controller that shipped with it so no issue there. Even with the quality of life with world "not much" has changed. So saying controls is why *insert mh game* was hard is not a valid argument.
How can people say MHRise is the easiest when Chargeblade in 4U exists.

The game audibly warns you, with your avatar or an NPC using words, when something dangerous is about to happen. I wouldn't classify that as simply a "quality of life" change.
I did not know this, I play in Japanese with voice frequency and other players' voices off, did it on the Switch too. If I'm making my character I don't want them to talk.

You playing older games when younger/less experienced with mh games is an argument tho, a pretty valid one
Yeah, theres one or two moves that your character will say something like "watch out, he's about to do something big". It's usually like 4-5 seconds in advance so theres no reason to ever get hit by those moves.

It's neither qol nor making it easier as the monsters pretty much telegraph every move anyways

Soooo you still compare World and Rise? World is childsplay, it did TO MUCH EASY and later on did FAIL in SCALING, thats a fact..

Noooooo Rise is way easier. Hell the only think making Rise multiplayer difficult at all is the amount of hit SFX going on around the mosters. Let me see things, dammit!

I'm not denying that :) , Also Rise isn't the easiest and neither is World. As people previously said MHp3 was really easy.

that doesn't really do much, most of the time the characters are just tuned out and end up not listening to them or hearing them
Yeah im thankfull MHR is easier, i really didn't liked chasing the monsters throught the whole map for 45 mins in MHW, i mean is monster hunter, not monster chaser.
It's a little bit of both.
Monster hunter world was just as easy, idk why people are saying this is easier i breezed past world when the last game in the sereis before i played rise was 4 on the 3ds at release
