Opening Detailed Map?

How do you open the detailed map in this? I'm currently using an Xbox controller to play and the game is telling me to press what looks like a play button... except Xbox controllers don't have that, not mine at least. Help?

It's one of the two buttons you have to the right of your left thumbstick. It's the left one, I think.
As for why it's a play button, that's because you haven't switch to the button displays that suit your controller.

If your controller does not have any of those buttons at all then... uhm... you're kinda screwed.

You hold the Back (or menu) button.

i use the left bumper to pull up the shortcut wheel and the map is there, it should be for you as well if you haven't changed any bindings

The rest of the displays are accurate to my buttons. I've found to hold the map (small button to the right of LS) button instead of pressing it, which opening chat settings.

I was trying to figure out the shortcut button for it, which I've found out! The wheel can sometimes be a bother, especially since I load it full of item selections, and I'm too lazy to toggle to different ones lol

You can also change map to be press instead of long press. That was one of the first changes I made on switch.
