How long does it take to be able to play coop?

In world it was annoying that you had to start the mission first if its a new mission, THEN invite someone. How does it work in this version?

You can co-op whenever.

You can do multiplayer pretty much right away, no syncing up on quests like MHW world, progress is separate in single and multi.

If everything goes as it does in the switch version: Complete the tutorial and talk to some NPCs and you can open a lobby.

This. The conditions for the moves and such are independent from solo village hunts. The amount of stuff you can only get from village quests is pretty small, honestly.

Okay, so it seems more streamlined then world. I hated that there was the long cutscene and you had to wait forever to get your friends in.

Can I just do the village quest to unlock multiplayer and forgot about the village quest for a while? Me and a friend just want to start teaming up to farm some monsters. Will you lose out on anything doing that?
