PSA: Don't default to capturing monsters in this game.
Unlike World, you don't get more materials for capturing. You only get more basic materials in the quest rewards and there are materials that you CANNOT get from capturing. And even so, killing gives more materials overall.

Also it's huge killjoy when everyone just defaults to capturing. Go for the kill you wimp, finish what you started.

The hunter's notebook gives you information on what materials you get how from monsters, including drop chances, so don't be afraid to look at that one if there's a material you're missing and you want the maximum chance to get it.

I saw that there is now an official item drop change/table in this game, so now at least we can the chances of getting certain monster parts and through what actions

PSA: If capture will end fights faster. Go for the capture.

Not entirely accurate. Kill vs capture in this game is based on which specific parts you're looking for.

Yes, but do this in solo. Don't join someone else's quest and lock them out of the chance of getting what they need just because what YOU want drops more from captures.

Except some parts do not come from capture now.

This game functions like the pre-world games.

Fights don't last that long in this game anyway. If it's ready to capture it's probably dead in less than a minute.

This is bad advice. Depending on what you're farming, capturing very well could be better.

What you really should do is only let the host capture to not piss anyone off.

Absolutely! Be polite and ask, and somehow magically it turns out that doing so will make people more likely to want to help. It's tragic how many people don't seem to have learned this skill.

Or ask . If the host says yes, capture away.

I never captured monsters :stronk: not about to start now :evilhero:

Not unless Barroth is in this game anyway

Sometimes i wonder if the monsters we capture are trained and used to artificially create riders. Do we have evil riders who capture monsters and control them and good riders who hatch them and build a bond with them? Or are we enslaving them and putting them in a zoo? Are we hunters part of creating a bigger problem behind the scenes?

Have fun not being able to get certain drops then.

Pretty sure the lore is that they're studied, then most likely relocated somewhere else and released. Wouldn't surprise me if some shenanigans happen with the process on occasion though.

Oh I'm sure I'll be forced into capturing a whole bunch of monsters in matchmaking, just like in World anyway. :steamfacepalm:
