Does Rise have a "handler"?

I've never hated a video game character more than the initial handler in MHW. The alternate handler was much better.

Was hoping for the cutscene where she gets flattened by a Urabaan. Or eaten whole by an angry pickle.

The handler did a pretty good job disconnecting hunters from their palicos right at the beginning of World, stealing the cats attention. Add that to not being able to pet and play with your cat like in Rise. Luckily in Rise no one tries to ruin the bond with my pets.

I did it on accident once when I sharpened my sword on top of a bush in a random uragaan hunt

It's unironically useful if you're trying to gather tempered elder tracks, I guess. Though I just stay far enough away from the monster that it doesn't aggro.

Still don't see the point on this one and you are basically repeating yourself. You just refuse to ackowledge her functions lore wise to see how she was useful.
And ofc, it's obvious that handlers aren't there to carry your games, because like in previous games, you have to do it on your own.

Heres the Hot Take about the Handler from MHW...
She was the stand in for the New playerbase. The folks that haven't been playing MH for years via PSP and 3DS. She is meant to present the naive player who would totally be that dumb within the world with the wanting to get out there and do the job but not knowing the risks or challenges that it presents.

Rise thankfully has the twins to replace the handler. Sunbreak seems to introduce some obnoxious tryhard to hog the hunters screentime though.
