Getting mad over charm editing is nonsense
I can somewhat understand (yet still disagree with) the armor and zenny complaints as they do give the other players a false impression of what you've achieved but getting mad over charms is just dumb.
Charms say NOTHING about a player's skill or experience it's just RNG plus it doesn't affect other players in any way since the game has sanity checks to keep illegal charms from being used.

Q: I grinded hundreds of charms to get the one I wanted shouldn't i be mad someone else just edited the ones they want in?
A: NO. You shouldn't care. It doesn't affect you in any way. Hell i'd be more inclined to get mad over someone getting the thing i grinded for on their first try by luck and even that sentiment is nonsense

Q: But...but aren't the people who do that just ruining the game for themselves?
A: First if they are it's their own damn prerogative. Second in most cases no they aren't.
I have over 450 hours in MHW on PS4 and in that time i never got even ONE damn drop of the handicraft tool. So in the PC version I edited in ALL of the decorations because ♥♥♥♥ that grind. And guess what? I have almost 800 hours in the PC version of MHW because it turns out if you make a good game, you don't need a stupid RNG grind to keep players coming back.

Admittedly I haven't done it in rise yet as armor skills are very friendly to My playstyle of hammer and insect glaive. But should i want to, I'll do so without hesitation as not only have I already done this grind but the grind itself is meaningless to me as far as gameplay goes

I don't get how it ruins it for people who do it, because if it means they get to play in a way that they have more fun, then it isn't ruined for them

charm editing is no secret even in nintendo DS, ive seen people with edited save and hr999 rank but the actual skill still pathetic almost comparable to a noob...

so the devs doesnt care because it doesnt matter at all, if you suck you suck, MH is a skill based game and its not really a button masher, you need to dodge or get 1 shot

It was a major problem in World because decorations were greatly integral to your build. Charms were always just a little extra boon to your set so there was never an issue with them being RNG. You don't NEED a good charm whereas you NEED decorations for an optimal build.
It's euphoric getting a god charm in GU where the old skill system was used. Like I said, charms are just extra, but if you find a God Charm in GU you could potentially change how you build your entire set. RNG isn't an issue in Rise because decos became craftable again. Charms are back to just being a little extra boon.

yeah im not losing my life for a 1:390 000 000 000 (apparently it was calculated) chance to get the talisman i want.

Gamers will focus on non-issues, and pretend they are real issues, so they can ignore real issues.

People always "cheat", there isn't much purpose in going in circles with it over and over every new game.

My two cents is this.
If you're cheating to get something that's in the game already for yourself then it's fine.
If you're cheating to one hit kill the monsters, then why even play the game at all?
Anyone who puts in effort is going to be annoyed at people who don't have to. People who work for money are going to feel somewhat annoyed at people who just inherit a fortune. It's human nature. You can't avoid it no matter how much you pretend like what other people do doesn't affect you.

In a game? No. Not in the least.

Particularly not in a skill based game.

Considering it's luck based for charms nobody has really worked for it

Its a single player game with multiplayer functions as long as someone dose not one shot a monster I dont care. Not everyone has time to spend 30 hours a day farming for a charm that YOU need. Games are ment to be fun I believe everyone reserves the right to have fun so if editing in a charm will let them have fun faster then by all means. Just dont one shot my hunts.

Assuming they didn't cheat, they put up with the luck and odds same as you or me. Even if someone got lucky and got a great charm really quickly, they still put up with the odds.

Damn this guy put evade extender 2 as his second skill. I clearly can't compete!

Yeah but there is no harm in not putting up with the odds for anyone. Just like this morning when i got my completely legitimate x3 earplugs and x2 punishing draw charm, it harms nobody, and nobody would even know about it if i didn't bring up my completely legitimate charm.

There's already an exploit built into the game that people took advantage of.

There is though. If I find out someone got the same thing I got, but without having to go through what I did, it feels worse. That's how human psychology works. It'll feel bad if someone lucks out and gets it way faster and it'll feel even worse if someone just cheats it in. With the feeling of satisfaction lowered, the incentive to grind out charms is lowered, which means the incentive to keep playing is lowered, all because I had knowledge of someone else getting it easier. That's how people work. Knowledge affects perception.

If you get 100 dollars it feels great, if you get 100 dollars but everyone gets 1000 you feel ripped off. You feel bad only because of comparison to other people and the knowledge of what they got, but it's how people work.
