Stop always capture, carve now has exclusive rewards unlike World/Iceborne
Title.

Rise changed how rewards worked from World so now a number of super-rare rewards, such as Narga Medulla, etc. are now available only when you carve and not when you capture.

but rise didnt change how people work.
multiplayer is for getting stuff done quickly, stop complaining and go solo if you want something specific.
must be thread no. 1343583 about this non issue.

I think it's probably more polite to ask if you want to capture, if its a non cap target or there is no carts on the hunt.

But manners and MH aren't synonymous and that isn't from a "elitist" mentality, its particular to this game becoming mainstream and popular which is a great thing !

Just play with friends or solo if you need a reward from something not captured 99% of the time randos will auto capture. And if most agree sometimes someone forgets and still captures. I will always capture the monster if we only have one life left, but I usually otherwise respect peoples wishes cuz I mean I can always use the non capture mats. BUT usually the rewards are about the same in how much you get. Sometimes capture will net you more it seems like. The biggest dif imo is the rate at which some monsters will drop gems. Some times the best option for this is to cut the tail off carve it, then capture for like pretty much a 7% to 10% chance to get a gem. Other wise usually the difference on gems is usually a 2% difference on capture or carve. Usually you can always get anything you want during solo or private plays though. I often avoid playing with people on harder fights cuz its annoying playing 20 minutes then just failing cuz some guy cant dodge XD.

Okay so I've found that 9 out of 10 times the preferable option is to capture. It sucks about some things (like Narga Medulla which I needed a bunch of) but I just get them solo from the village quests if I want them ASAP. Otherwise just ask if you can kill the monster instead (and use a sticker, not regular chat, so it's more noticeable).

This will be my only and last actual comment on the matter:
You are absolutely right with that - like everyone else - who says "do it solo, no one can bother you that way". There is almost nothing wrong with the statement with one exception:

Each time when someone comes around and say something like that, they give up on the community. Original poster does not need to make a thread, like the 6-9 others I have seen the last 72 hours. They do not need to hope anyone care. But they do, and it should be actually a thing that we all do.

At some point it is no longer about "you can do it solo". At some point it is about "do we want people to be like this?" I say "nay" and encourage people to remember: you can chat. You can use stickers to communicate. And most of all: the game is MORE FUN WHEN ENJOYED TOGETHER.

That is what we want. Having fun playing together. There are some questionable subjects out there who are not brain dead, who can read, and still do spoil your fun. That is something we cannot do anything about. But I like to think that the majority is simply "green" and needs the information out there.

One way or another - the ones who cares just need to wait. In doubt those who do not care about etiquette and playing TOGETHER properly will soon switch to another game where they can spoil other people's fun. Hopefully by then the community grows strong enough that standards like greeting each other at first meeting are restored, and friendship can be forged again by enjoying a time together.

If you find anyone green, point them this way if you want: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1446780/discussions/0/3196993949743611807/

And if you want to give up on the community... well, I do not care that much that I would insist on anyone who does that to stay still. Because I think every post which "gives in" sours the mood and only encourage the bad behaviour we want to counter. Cheers ~

If people cap, they get kicked from my game, simple as that.
And no, just because someone lays a trap they don't get kicked, if they use tranq bombs as well, that is when they get kicked.

I am happy with that fair behaviour.

Trapping is a valid hunting action to incapacitate a monster to deal damage freely. So yeah, won't kick for that.

thats 100% true, but random multiplayer is exactly that: random.
its amazing if you have a hunt with friendly people who work together, but someone who joins and does just random stuff probably isnt reading forums.
i guess someone how reads stuff outside the game is already vaguely familliar to basic hunting etiquette. its preaching to the choir.

Mhm. I got the feeling myself too. But I do not want to give up.
I might be unable to make "randoms read" (and probably "think"), but I try stuff like using stickers and lines which sounds somewhat like

"Strong hunters kill it now"
"Kill for more loot"
"Capture for gems"

And such.

Then those will learn the hard way ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
karl-emil Jan 22, 2022 @ 4:01am
OP should get some friends instead of crying about randoms carrying them
Tamerlein Jan 22, 2022 @ 4:08am
With kill and cap effecting rewards in this game devs should have just made a toggle for the quest poster to enable/disable tranqs. When searching for a join request you can search for cap/kill/either
