they suck
Place the same stuff in the same order in the same places, shoot some flying things, focus on some gate attacking things, then when the counter signal goes off you drop down and annihilate what's left in like 10 seconds. Over and over again. Then a boss turns up and always smashes everything down in a dramatic rush to the final zone.
Then you drop a few nukes on its head while it thrashes around an arena that's too big and spread out, so it never truly knows how to focus its attacks on a single target. I don't even think people fainting even matters. It just flails around getting shot at and being beaten up for five minutes before suddenly dying.
Then someone spawns an annoying child with a minigun that can't shut up for 10 seconds making the same stock sound effect over and over again. It might have been funny the first time, but not anymore.
At least that's how it has gone for the six or so Rampages I've done. If there's a strategy to them, I don't see it. There seems to be no need to even make a gear set in order to do it well either, it's just a mosh pit. I don't even need to use the stuff I pick up off the ground, everything just dies anyway. The Apex at the end can't do anything of note, especially not with a counter signal going off.
I've gotten S+ ranks and I've gotten B ranks, but the effect that had I never really noticed either. Maybe a few less monster materials or something, I dunno. Still loads of Rampage tickets.
Unless I'm missing something.
Sure does suck that the tickets, materials and XP gains from them make them pretty much the best thing you can do in the end game if you want to meld talismans or make Rampage stuff. Gah.
soloing them because nobody joins the request ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks
Least it's more proof that the game is dumbed down difficulty and skill wise so much that they put Plants and Zombies, Rathalos edition into our MH as filler given how short and unsubstantial the main quests are.
5 - 10 minute quests.
20 minute rampage.
"bALanCeD fun and engaging gameplay" /s
Also, you can be manually hitting things for a good chunk of time what with the counter gong. So it's tower defense until it isn't. Especially the final boss of the quest and the 500 second counter gong. Something cathartic about hitting a dragon piercer and seeing a series of 1000 damage crits popping up for about 5k damage. Feels almost as good as nuking the enemies with the wyvern shot for 8.8k damage.
Yeah my thoughts exactly. I didn't feel like playing a tower defense game in MH too. To be honest, the Zorah sieges in World felt better and more engaging at least.
They add a new way to play MonHun (as well as keeping the old style if you just wanna set up auto-turrets and go in yourself), and apart from the few required ones, are completely optional.
Lol, different tastes I guess. Glad you like them event though some of us don't 🙂 I'm just glad that they're at least optional apart from the tutorial one given by the Hinoa.
Although, I might not miss it that much if it's gone in the next entry.
