Report a translation problem
(apart from something else, which is literally 'pinging' your own position, that you do by clicking the menu or map button or something while the map is open idk this isn't what you want but mentioning it because i doubt anyone knows about it)
iirc you can't see icons on the large map on the HUD, but you can if you go into options and switch the default map to 'detailed'. :/
the weird cross things are environmental traps that deal some damage if you slam a ridden monster into it. just remember that sometimes they spawn in different areas for different quests so always check the map if you want to use one
As far as getting around, you'll have to learn how to get around the map by experience.
