How bad are ground DBs?
Title. I keep hearing that ground DBs are much worse than aerial DB, but how much worse are they really?

I only play with ground DBs because aerial isn't really fun for me.

I did not know about any bad ground DBs. I can also see little difference there, since you cannot stay all the time in the air. You mean dual blades, right?

Probably meant demon flurry rush vs demon flight, one of the strongest rottation is to go into demon flight- aerial demon flurry- midair roundslash-demon fangs-twofold demon fangs and repeat.
Archedemon mode is also good because you can just just spam demon flight without having to reset with the 2 demon fangs.
(you just use midair spinning blade dance instead, which doesn't make you go levi mode on the monster in archdemon)

Given how demon dance was nerfed (probably because of piercing bind) ground combos are a bit lackluster now,
Noticed something like a 1-2 min difference when i don't take demon flight personnaly but don't know the exact damage difference.

Also demon flight has generous iframes at the beginning of the slamming motion and midair attack like Gu aerial style attack, so it gives you even more opportunities to be agressive once you master it.

there’s nothing really stopping you from running demon flight and still playing on the ground. I’m actually in the same boat as you OP, I just reconcile it that way. Not much lost in translation.

demon flight is more useful than flurry for a variety of reasons, including making stamina management a breeze, having great iframes when it connects, and obviously hitting things that would normally have been out of reach. You’ll have a slightly harder time positioning on the ground, but feral demon mode covers for that by letting you do similar minor damage on dodges anyway.

I just wish it wasn’t so reliant on its silkbinds. MHGU Valor DBs had it the best, and MHR DBs feel like a weird blend of Aerial and Valor with some things cleaner and some things clunkier. The fast demon dance from Valor was too good for this world

I still like the movement granted by demon flurry and normal demon mode too much.
The former is amazing to position and to exploit very small opennings, while the latter's speed bonus is just too much fun to not use. Knowing which attack i can outrun to then headsnipe just feels so good, and it's very powerful against quite a few monsters, such as Apex Zinogre.

I Also hate the Feral demon mode locking you in an attack animation, and I get 2 times worse at the game whenever i'm using it because I try to avoid archdemon mode as much as i can which results in me having terrible stamina management.

haha fair enough on all counts, it definitely does feel weird to not be able to use Flurry to move when out of stamina

Here’s hoping they boost its ground MVs and tone down how crucial Piercing Ironsilk is

as a full time DB user I can answer that:

Aerial DB are king but DB itself is emperor of damage, so ground DB are very viable with nice killing times - don't worry at all.

And do not forget the Piercing Bind skill - it can achieve very high damage numbers if master and build around it.

basically you consume a little bit of stamina because you need to reset attack animation with dash, just like when you miss aerial DB

its all good tbh, but i still prefer aerial cause of the frame immunity

Aerial is stronger since they nerfed MV on ground DB moves and aerial also has something of a counter so you can ignore roars and some other attacks with it.

Aerial also lets you go into the beyblade mode and has much better mobility imo than ground.
Plumber Feb 26, 2022 @ 8:37pm
yeah, the aerial spin being something you can aim makes it way easier to sneak in than demon dances

Demon flurry rush took a really hard hit in motion value unfortunately, and spinning rising slashes have always been niche-- so demon flight ends up being better on paper, and in practice it's actually not that bad because the leap up has i frames.

They both have their pros and cons, be it damage, mobility, dodging potential, dps uptime, etc...
