10th gen i5 and 1070 GTX.
I'll keep playing around with my undervolting and maybe try messing with my boost clock settings too, see if I can get anything to a more reasonable temp.
It does have that, but it doesn't specify whether the settings are heavy on the GPU or the CPU.
The game IS very CPU-bound, same as World... That said, are you using an AIO cooler? Heat sinks these days just don't cut it. I doubt any settings you can do would help as much as a better cooling solution. You can get a decent one for quite cheap.
No, I'm using a laptop, the model number is provided at the very top of the post and the CPU I listed is a mobile CPU.
Also fwiw, there's a decent amount of air coolers that perform equally to most AIOs when it comes to desktop cooling.
My bad for not reading properly. But my other comments stand.
One thing that might help: CPU usage spikes tremendously with framerate. If you cap the max fps to 60, you can see big gains (larger than reducing graphics settings). And with the way RE engine works this might make the game easier...
I had the same issue after the recent patch my laptop with GTX 1050ti was running smoking hot like 85°C on GPU and CPU with reduced fps, it was dropping to near 45 fps.
Now its back to stable 60frames with reduced temp.
It's worth adding that I did try out 150% and it didn't seem to make any difference in heat and only about a 2fps difference, I just couldn't tell the difference between the two.
I remember seeing something like that before. But you wrote you updated the drivers already. The last time I remember it was a mainboard issue which got unmasked by the game. As long as yours is fine, its a guess into the blue.
cap your fps to 60 since anything above in this type of game serves absolutely no purpose other then raise temps by more then 80% while not only giving no benefit but most of the time introducing stuttering and mem leakage
or
raise your virtual memory/pagefile over 8gig
or
disable dynamic shadows and foliage sway ingame settings
also
look how much cpu % win defender is using while playing
and if number is over 5% consider disabling realtime protection when playing which was a massive issue whene iceborne launched
was making win defender use over 35% of my 16threads.. on its own
until a mod patched it or if realtime was disabled
due to.. low and Behold.. Denuvo
which once again plagued another victim
also in nvpanel
force physx to run on the gpu, disable sharpening
and since you are using a laptop avoid using Maximum power option
also recent win updates might have turned on scheduling
to disable it
go in windows settings>system>display>
look at bottom of page for "graphic settings"
and if hardware accelerated gpu scheduling is on turn it off
