Co-op Monster Scaling sucks
Play solo: Monster is slain within 2-3 minutes.
Play with 1 friend: Monster is a raid boss that requires 15-20 minutes to slay.

It's like it doesn't scale with how many players there are, just if you're playing with someone. So the monster will have x4 health despite only being 2 people.

World doesn't have this problem :c

Even the VERY FIRST monster, that bear thing, took 25-30 minutes for my friend and I to take down, it's ridiculous.

World has mp scaling as well. Sounds like you're even confusing village vs hub quests.
Plumber Feb 22, 2022 @ 8:19am
there are two things in play here

1) village quests are extremely easy compared to hub quests; World was actually the first main game to do away with the split

2) monsters get additive health for every extra player, but their stagger/break thresholds are multiplicative by the number of players, so even if they go down about as fast or much faster, they’re not as easy to lock down in multiplayer

in world scaling:
1player=1xHP Monster;
2players=~2xHP Monster;
3&4players=4xHP Monster (HP is the same with 3 or 4 players);

i dont know about mh rise - but i think it is the same.

look at timer doing a hub quest Rank7 - how long does it take for you doing it solo and with another player - pls let me know the timings! (&and what weapons you used)

Can you do village quests in co-op? My friend and I were unable to find a way.

Edit: It appears VIllage is considered the "Solo" mode.

So why don't Hub quests scale appropirately?

This is inaccurate.
These are rough numbers but: 2 = 1.5x 3 = 2.0x 4 = 2.5x.

If the very first monster is taking you and your friend 30 minutes, you guys simply aren't doing enough damage. I can managed sub 5 with any weapon i'm decent with, with no armor and base weapon.
Rise has scaling similar to world. 1.5 for 2, 2 for 3, 2.4 for 4.

I actually hate this scaling though, because it punishes good players for playing with lower level players. When something like a normal, non event, kush takes 20+ minutes, its frustrating. Means i'm the one dealing the brunt of the damage.

Lol not that much. For World it's
2p = 1.4~2x
3/4p = 2~3x

Rise is roughly the same.

@Op if you take mroe than twice longer to kill a monster in duo compared to solo, that means you are not performing well as a team.

Both of us perform the same, so that makes no sense.

Still only half correct. Village quests can be done _only_ solo. Hub quests can be done solo as well. So if you want to cry about scaling, you should compare your solo hub killtime. That's what I meant initially.

Also, 20-30min is totally fine for having (presumably) improper gear and lack of experience (no offence). Esp in coop when just one member is not playing efficiently.

I think your mate isn't doing any DMG
Multiplayer is way too ez imo

Edit: I should have read the rest of this thread first
Sounds like you both are undergeared for hub
If you don't do village first the start of hub can be pretty tough, it will balance out as soon as you start crafting weapons and such

It is easy, it just takes forever to kill something.

I don't see the point in doing Hub quests when Village quests are so much easier. Do they offer better rewards?
the hub quest is the only way to get to end game
the village is for training to time the monster and see the tell tells

I don't know where these guys are pulling their numbers from and frankly I'm too lazy to even try to confirm if they are correct. It also seems to be more complicated than a simple X multiplier for y players. It seems to differ from quest to quest. Also seems like where the monster spawns in the map changes how much hp it has.
If you want to know what the actual scaling is then use a datamined source like https://mhrise.kiranico.com/data/quests . Just click on the quest you want to know the scaling for and scroll down to monster appearances and it will list the hp for each player count for each spawn location. Or maybe it depends on the size instead of location. hard to know when the numbers aren't rally explained much.

Village is the solo only and tutorial mode. Even in solo scaling, LR monsters in the Hub have more HP than Village monsters.

For exemple, Village Almudron has 5580 HP, meanwhile the LR Hub Almudron has 8280 to 8550 HP in Solo, and 11592 to 11970 HP in Duo.

Of course, this is without counting that baiting and exploiting attacks is much harder in multiplayer, which often results in longer kill times than solo, especially for experienced players.

I'm asking what the actual differences between them are, other than being easier. I appear to get the same loot, which is all I care about.

Hub quests ARE the game. Village is actually toned down in this to have no hp. If hub quests are taking 20+ minutes, there is a very real damage issue, not hp issue. And on top of that, village is lower rank, doesn't complete the story, and doesn't get you into the meat of the game.
