How can i put decorations into my weapons?

As mentioned above. i know how to craft them, i know how to put petalaces, switch armor etc etc. but for some weird reason i dont know where i can slot decorations into my gear

Item box > Manage Equipment > Set Decorations

at the blacksmith and equipment box there is a menu for decorations, but i dont remember what hunting rank unlocks that.
can you already craft decos? there should also be a menu to equip them

First, need to unlock 4 stars gathering hub/online capable quests or complete special license tests for village quests. All progression lock and based, even certain decorations only unlock if you kill certain monsters for certain parts.

Then your weapons need to have decoration slots, I, II or III to set into. Not all of them has. You can set them either at the blacksmiths or the equipment box.

Unrelated but also unintuitive. Remember that upgrades need different materials than forging a fresh weapon mid weapons tree.

Which left me scratching my head for thirty seconds wanting to upgrade a weapon with Dulling strikes on it to another branch instead of crafting a fresh one at the start of the new branch.

"Why can't I upgrade this? It only says forge I have the materials to-oh right..."
