Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate
Who here would buy a port of MHGU?

For those who only jumped on when World released, MHGU is basically every classic game in one. 6 different weapon styles each weapon, Hunter Arts are like Silkbind attacks except they charge by attacking the enemy so you cannot spam them. Every classic map and monster.

I have 200 hrs on the Switch but I would buy it again on PC. Now that classic MH has been replaced with the new, faster paced style I'm wondering who would buy the last classic game.

Depends on the price. Knowing me I would properly buy it for nostalgic reason just to drop it after an hour or two like I did with the MH4U remaster for Switch.

It is easy to get used to newer more fluid gameplay and graphics, and so much harder to get back to ... that kind of nostalgic stuff.

Ironically enough, I have a much less troublesome time replaying games with pixelated graphics, but the old 3D polygons stuff is a different matter... I cannot wait for Advance Wars...

the 3ds version (MHXX) handles really well through emulation, and honestly I’d buy it a third time if it got a little tune-up in the process. Very good game and very nice send-off for the older content. It’s just the gathering quests in LR that make it hard to replay from a fresh file

I'd buy a port of every game, as long as the camera controls were brought in line with modern ones (but the classic ones should remain too, for those who are used to them) - mechanics can stay 100% unchanged though, I don't mind a bit of extra work or having to roll my sleeves up when approaching hunts, etc.

I enjoyed playing through Freedom Unite a bit recently, was very fun, even getting gored by a "boss" Bullfango while I was collecting mushrooms lol, but the camera system gave me a bit of a headache and wouldn't fully work with some creative remapping of my gamepad either.

It'd be fun going through 'em again. Would especially enjoy taking a crack at Frontier lol, to see what all the fuss is about.

On the other hand, I'd prefer them to focus all their resources and manpower on making new instalments to the franchise, rather than digging up old dreams. Plus people wouldn't shut up about the graphics being "bad" either, lol.

But yeah I'd buy it just to have ready access to it whenever I felt like playing it again, without having to jump through any hoops.

I picked it up on switch, but the regression in QoL was too much for me. Maybe playing on PC with my monitor and an SSD would make it more enjoyable.

I have 180 or so hours in Generations, and my Generations Ultimate is collecting dust, but yeah, I'd buy it on PC

A straight port no. A proper remake with updated graphics and seamless maps? Definitely.

You know how many maps are in GU right? Also much of the game's mechanics are reliant on those sectioned off zones. Maybe remove the loading screen between zones with a brief fade to black and that could work. Just don't touch the gameplay because it's fine how it is.

I'd buy it. A chance to play MHGU with friends without Nintendo's online subscription? Sign me up. Plus prowlers.

I hope one day capcom will make HD remasters of 1-4 generation games (MHF, MHFU, MH3U and MH4U)

That's the dream
And somewhat possible, Capcom is talking more and more about how it's profitable to have old games on pc since you will sell the game without the restrictions of console lifetimes and that they therefor want to focus more on pc going forward

Those would be good spots to do it. Could also give them the generations treatment, and give them the maps of other games in the generations

Kokoto and Minegarde for 1st gen, Jumbo, Dundorma, and Pokke for second gen, Moga, Loc Lac, Yukumo, and Port Tanzia for 3rd gen. 4th gen already would have all of its maps as base.
