Why do they feel kinda off compared to everything else I've fought so far?
I beat them but they gave the impression I was being pranked by people who complain about things are too easy to lull me into a false sense of security.
Like seeing people complaining online that your hunter calling out big attacks it too EZ too casual, but Rajang goes from zero to lightning breath faster than you can finish saying "Look" in "Look out he's up to something". See what happens when you trust people complaining something made the game too easy? You get shot in the face expecting an attack windup to take longer than 1.7 seconds that's what (good thing "Sprint sideways like an idiot until it all works out" lets you dodge that like an idiot savant)
And as I was fighting I realized I was hearing a lot of armor dings, and by happy coincidence I had the Kadachi armor on with rank 3 minds eye so... what, are his arms armored while in super mode or something? Or just a coincidence and that isn't an issue.
Killed him out of spite instead of capturing, but given the tone of the fight I wouldn't be surprised if he is immune to traps just because.
And so on. Why does big demon monkey feel like a bag of lazy tricks as I was killing him instead of a cool monster fight? "Hmm he hasn't ♥♥♥♥ out lightning out of nowhere for a bit, let's sprint sideways blindly for no reason-oh there he goes, I literally blinked and missed the windup for that missing me"
So.... Yes on the "Lazy bag of tricks" being their intended gimmick then. I get the feeling his initial outing was a lot more "Hits you once or twice if you are roided out and you cart" tuned given the trend of "Anything that isn't instant death is dumbed down for casuals"
Granted with my luck, stabbing them in the ass a lot didn't seem to credit as hitting his tail right as I was killing him at the time if that is supposed to knock him out of angry boy mode. Even if the after the fact hunters notes that didn't exist until too little too late to check does also mention the tail bit now that I'm reading it.
But I will keep it in mind for later instead of just shrugging and brute forcing the monkey to death and sighing while they ignore flashbangs to run away the second their super mode wears off naturally.
Still nowhere near as bad as "And now to chop off the tail before they die-" *flaiing monster no-clips their entire ass through a mountainside* "You clever bastard." when it comes to tail antics though.
Granted, hunters notes also claims he will fight any monster that comes near him. But with my luck seeing a holy grail of "All three monsters in one spot? ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥! this will ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rule" was him running like a ♥♥♥♥♥ instead.
Which... really probably didn't do any wonders for my opinions on this guy regardless of "In real men's monster hunter he would one-shot you." assurances. Big angry monkey demon, and the first thing I see him do is run like a baby away from danger. I could have carted 3 times instead and it would be hard to shake that first impression moment.
MH:R-mildly agitated Rajang will fling his arms wildly and sometimes throw you on the floor.
Late game G-rank monster vs standard HR monster does feel like a massive difference, Rise Rajang is just way too tame for perpetually enraged beast.
So idk, will they eventually ramp up all the monsters in the future or steal the upgrades from us?
It's really hard to give you tips for killing rajang when you haven't mentioned your main weapon. I have a video here of a casual (me) killing him with LS in less than 6 minutes with sakura slash (suboptimal switch skill). Maybe this could help
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4oyax6L6oMk
edit, forgot to mention this is from early switch days, before valstrax and even the allmother fight.
Well, the trick there was that I already killed him. That was after the fact commentary wondering why he felt more like a gimmicky ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ than a natural monster compared to what I had been working through until then.
That said, I do like your instinct to try and give genuine help. Considering I'm a moron who still takes longer than sane to kill even the plain vanilla high rank hub monsters.
"Oh, diablos again. Well I had an easy time of it in world even when black-Ow. Okay this is fine. Now get back here so I can break your horns." and then somehow we both miss eachother for a solid 45 seconds. I am very much a roller coaster of 'how is this idiot not dead yet?' when I succeed.
For another example of my skill sine wave. Kill gascoigne on the first try then die to a normal enemy I had killed countless times right after. See also: Artorias. "Wow, I only needed one try! this must mean I'm finally good-curse you scarecrow, my archnemeisis."
I seem to live in bizzaro world. Horse samurai tutorial boss in ninja gaiden is hell. Alma was pretty fun-what do you mean she was the brick wall boss?
Edit: granted it was a fairly meme build
