After a couple of hunts the cues for the most dangerous attacks become noticeable. They will also do repeated moves and delayed counters when the hunter uses the wirebugs to try and attack them, these are not pukey pukey's.
Also, use mega-armor boosts (juice + dust) and make sure your HP bar is just 79% but not lower.
Some think Apex monsters' high HP pool is "cheap" but they don't consider the insane amount of tools hunter have available to easily counter them. Very fun hunts, the one you unlock at the end of the lvl 7 quests (fighting 3 emergency Apexes at the Palace arena is my favorite event in the game, that Zinogre...)
They don't give you any memorable rewards though.
Def up, elemental def up, status resist, etc.
You can even use free meal and keep chugging potion while you learn its attack pattern and tell.
There is no shame in hunting defensively. Everyone has their first. What important is you cleared it.
Or just don't get hit.
I agree with this entirely.
If you have any intention of completing these (being the most challenging quests currently in the game), you have to be fully prepared to adapt your build and learn what your opponent is capable of. If you have the dedication, you'll find a way to handle it.

All what you need to know how to handle them have been already mentioned. If you properly progressed you should have no issues at all. Make sure you properly respect the monsters and it will be fine ~
you cant die
Also don't use Defense up and whatnot, those skills are horrible, investing into Evade Window is a much better roi and boost to survivability than getting a ~5% damage reduction.
Play the game like it's turn based combat.
