Dragon Piercer doing minimal damage?
I'm liking the bow for the most part coming from world, especially the "dodge to attack" switch skill, but is it just me or does the Dragon Piercer, just... not do any damage whatsoever?

I did just start the game, but it seems like if I just spam left click I'll deal way more damage on each arrow alone, like maybe 20-40 damage in a second total than if I were to get a good Dragon Piercer attack I get like... 8 damage across 5 hits. I'm not sure what's happening here. In World this definitely was not the case.

Depends on if you hit a weak point, how large the monster is, Charge Level, and if you are at Critical Distance. I can have my Nargacuga Bow pop a monster for 4 or 5 hits of 120+

Dragon Piercer can also sever tails

Oh also you don't really wanna Spam left click. You do want to use your Power Shot and Power Shot Volley. These have the benefit of applying stun damage to monsters if you hit the head....which seems to be the weak point for every monster on bow with a few exceptions...

Dragon piercer does plenty l if you get get a solid weakspot hit and possibly crit too. You can get a few 100+ hits among the 5 hits if you're using a top tier bow.

A decent dragon piercer does 500+ damage for example. A rapid fire opening combo does about 400 for me (if you open at lvl 3 charge), then you can keep the charge at level 4 and follow up with a aerial shot and do 750 roughly. If the monster is below you, you can follow up with a stab down and dodgebolt for an extra 200. The whole combo does about 1150-1350 damage. Or you can extend the combo near infinitely with dodging if you have stamina management builds and items.

The problem is dragon piercer doesn't benefit from end-game builds as much as just attacking and keeping your charge level at 4. Only deco that buffs it is one that can increase it's damage by 20%. Which just ain't worth running because dragon piercer is only worth using early to mid-game (when the bow's power shots are doing tickle damage and you don't have access to charge lvl 4 yet).

It's like Wyvernsnipe on the Heavy Bowgun. Pretty fun ability that is good for most of the game and skill levels, but falls off after a while because it doesn't scale better than simply attacking the monster with the rest of your attacks instead

Dragon piercer is underwhelming even in world anyway. Nothing can beat power shot -> arc shot spam in world.
They even had to remove damaging arc shot in rise because of how stupidly broken it is.

Cope harder. Spamming power shot into arc shot deal so much damage than your silly epic long range charging. Not to mention building up stun gauge which translate to even more burst opportunity.

...do you mean rapid shot into quick/power shot?

Because arc shot is absolute garbage.

No, arc shot. I laugh at kids saying it only deal 4 damage but they fail to realize it deals overtime damage that stacks with each sharpnel and can easily deal more than 300 damage in seconds. Not to mention it preserve your charge lvl for your power shot spam.
Get spread + slugger skill build in and you'll get those speed run strat.

Okay, except, the total motion value on a full charged arc shot is 2x15.

A full charged rapid shot is 3x11.

One rapid does more damage than an entire arc shot.

Integrate it into a combo because you need to be aware that it can also charge. I only ever use it against long monsters like Mizutsune though.

One of the best bow players I personally know:

Wow. THREE arc shots!

And only at the end once he was out of power coatings because it's not worth wasting a power coat on.

And look! A whopping FIVE damage per tic!

SO MUCH DAMAGE!

dragon piercer is not worth your time. you'll do more damage from a simple aerial aim
