MONSTER HUNTER RISE

MONSTER HUNTER RISE

New Guild Cross Set
So with the recent update to Rise, they released an unexpected surprise in the form of a new set of Armor set called Guild Cross. It's a low rank armor set, sporting a whopping 24 defense per piece, and cannot be upgraded. It features the following skills:

Geologist lvl 3, Botanist lvl 2, Marathon Runner lvl 1, Carving Pro, Hunger Resist lvl 1, Wirebug Whisperer lvl 1, and Wall Runner lvl 1.

The set looks pretty good, and even comes with the layered version right off the bat. My general impression is that it's a nice little early game armor set they added for gathering, and is far less in your face than a certain other armor set from another game. It'll also be a nice lil early game thing to have for the move from Switch to PC.

Let's see what everyone else thinks though.

Well, at 24 def a piece and unable to be upgraded, at least it's not as horribly imbalanced as defender.

Yeah, at best it's gonna get you through Low Rank pretty smoothly, but is easily forgotten after you get past like 3 or 4 star quests. I did see a lot of knee jerk reactions towards this set being added already. But since it's not nearly as busted, and that it's an optional thing to claim from the mail cat makes it more reasonable of an addition.

Man, absolutely gonna love this. Was my favourite layered armour to wear in world. I'm not gonna check out the vid, but I assume it's earned via mats we get from arena quests once again. I already planned on farming arena quests but this gives even more reason to do so, so nice!

This looks like a decent, low effort gathering set. Not like we need those much in Rise anyway but why not?

I don't see it ever helping in low rank much though, these are not combat skills so the only thing you get is the defence. But, let's be real, who even needs more defence in low rank, everything is already super easy. You're better of just making a mixed set with some offensive skills in it. IIRC you could get 3 or 4 levels of attack pretty easily by just mixing some early LR armor pieces.

I love people got genuinely upset at a low rank gathering set, thinking it was gonna somehow disrupt game balance.

All them peeps talking about stats and I'm just wondering about lore implications. Is this the armor set knights use in Rondine's continent?

It's not new armor, and its heavily inferred that its armor used by high-ranking hunter's guild members

Just to let you know it's not the same as the Guild Palace set, sorry to disappoint if that's what you meant lol. You also get it for free from the mail cat.

We have guild cross in World too though, which you also need a lot of mats from arena quests for. Pretty sure Dr. Raven meant that one too.

Ooooh, I've never come across it in World so that's my bad. But this time it's not tied to the Arena, you just claim it from Senri.
free fashion? Nice. maybe i will actually make a female character then? Oh.. but the aelucanth....

Yeah, and pretty sure we got the layered outfit from an arch tempered fight if I remember correctly? Brutal earning it. Sad to hear it's given for free, makes it less impressive or I guess considered noobie to wear, but I still like the design of it.

That's just how it is, you never know what's going to be the prestigious piece of gear, it changes with every game. We used to have Sword Saint Earring for example, proof you A ranked all arena quests in MHGU. In World you have the AT layered armors. Nothing in Rise yet really since we don't have G rank.

You could argue the Feather of Mastery you get for doing all the Arena Quests in Rise with all the weapons is a prestigious piece of gear, especially when it guarantees you an extra carve.

Didn't know about that one, but yeah I'd say it's pretty rare and prestigious since most players don't bother to clear all arena quests. Would be even more if it was tied to the rank. Wouldn't get it anyway still, not a fan of arena quests due to lack of rewards and preset gear.
