Use fresh fish, and chain mobs on the beach in Halcyonia.
You get JP bonus for chaining, and can get quite a lot of JP pretty fast. It's really not that hard to max jobs out.
my grinding has been... not the best so far.
And I have level 12 freelancer on 3 characters now so the JP boost is gonna be INSANE.
I just got to the 4th area, and all I did was cap monsters in regular encounters using mercy strike => capture x2, and look at the stats on Beastmaster:

I hit for double 9999s with Neo Cross slash now. I clapped every "OP" special mob in the areas up to this point and got their gear too.
I don't want to make the game too easy but yes I am gonna do this at least a little.
Everyone who's a beastmaster, lmao.
Like, the only way you can even marginally compete with that is with freelancer after you master a crap ton of jobs (still not as good as beastmaster gains, IMO), and farming stat up items, but you can only do the later very late game after getting some uber gear from portal bosses. The game is already over by the time you can farm stat potions and max stats for any class combo.
Like, I just went into a dungeon for a subquest, capped every monster, fought battles in my way, and I ended up gaining an extra 25 points in attack/def stats. For just one run through a dungeon for a quest. I'm around 750 in attack and defense stats now, it's crazy, won't be long before I've got 999 in phys/mag attack and defense stats, probably even without any equipment, lol. Already got 9999 hp/ 999mp. Crit is now 100.
Everything hits me for peanuts, even the special type enemies with 750 defenses. I don't need a healer even for the toughest fights, because I don't take any damage when I'm hit anymore.
If I ever want to trash the game then this is defo my first choice.
But I kind of like having to think, even a little bit.
The point is, you can do this without really going too far out of your way to grind that hard.
So, yeah, don't use Beastmaster capping if you don't want to be too OP.
There was only one enemy up to this point that still actually hit me for damage and made me bring a healer, some special mob called Jormungar, hit my group for like 4k AOE even with 700 something defense, but that was a fight I was probably supposed to take on *way* later. Wasn't a big deal, I just had to bring a healer, curaga healed my party for more than this thing hit for, so it wasn't a big deal. I actually had to run away the first time I fought it because I didn't bring a healer, didn't think i'd need one.
I guess another point is, even when I was getting hit for massive amounts of damage, the game didn't require I do anything more than bring a healer. The difference between that and getting hit for 1 damage is having 1 character out of my 4 using "curaga" instead of "insert attack here x4", and there isn't much difference, IMO.
Like, the game is going to be piss easy, unless you go out of your way to apply self-imposed limitations on specific classes/setups/strategies.
Like, don't use beastmaster, don't use freelancer, and pick just 1 class combo for your characters and more or less stick with it.
Let's say you end up with something like:
Vanguard/thief or swordmaster
Spirit Master/White mage
Bard/Pictomancer
Red Mage/Black mage or oracle
And don't use jacked stats from beastmaster, or freelancer, the game might pose a modicum of a challenge. Phantom/Salve maker is another busted combo, although not nearly as busted as Beastmaster.
I have heard of busted combos, I found the berserker/monk thing on my own which hits like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ at times but to see that they just... left 1 class on its own, with its base abilities, being THIS op feels like it was an accident. Like the stat boosts should have a cap.
It gets pretty disgusting when you combine it with swordmaster. Gets even stronger later when you get Ninefold flurry....
You leech BP back by landing critical hits too. In the previous games, you needed 1 character to use as a BP battery to feed your party, and now your attackers are their own BP batteries.
