Textures glitching out randomly + crashes or hang ups.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2594746268

What the hell?

It didn't do this until I got to Savalon.

Once this happens, I gotta restart the game, textures are fine for a bit, but after zoning about 5-10 times, the textures glitch out again like this. When I select quit game, it either hangs up, and I gotta manually end the window through task manager, or it crashes.

*edit* - There is a fix for this, if you have this issue then install SpecialK, it fixes a lot of issues with crummy ports like this one. You need to disable "Texture caching" in the options.

Yes please fix this problem we wanna play this game w/o it glitching out and crashing
AH-1 Cobra Sep 5, 2021 @ 7:03pm
I just tested this, it *only* happens in Savalon regions, like I can play and zone as many times as I want within Halcyonia regions, and this glitch never occurs. But as soon as I start exploring around Savalon, this happens. So there is something buggy going on with textures/assets in Savalon region not loading properly when zoning, etc.

Yeah its second area and whenever you visit it that game glitches out itll freeze my game so that i cant task master out so i have to reset PC

In the game's folder => Engine => Extras => Redist => etc => UE4prereqsetup_x64

Someone on another forums told me to install this, i'll report back if that happened to fix it, but I doubt it will. Because it should have installed this along with the game.

Nope, it's not fixed. I went outside fought 5 battles, zoned back in Savalon, and the textures were glitched:

Capping the frame rate at 60 seems to make this occur less. But it still happens.

I noticed my CPU usage jump from like 10-15% usage to 85-90% usage when this glitch occurs. Whatever this bug is also causes CPU usage to spike in a very extreme way.

Hi I am experiencing the same exact issue with the textures not loading.

Does not matter what options i change, it never loads any textures, restarting also does not help.

I am trying different things, but I cannot find a solution.

Otherwise the came runs very smoothly and loads fast, just the textures are not loading at all.

Anyone find out how to solve it?

I have a ASUS VIVOBOOK
AMD Ryzen 7
16 GB RAM

What hardware are we all running? Even if it's strong, there may be some compatibility issue or some such. Especially GPU, since this seems to be a texture caching issue.

Are your Nvidia/AMD drivers up to date?

Ryzen 7 has a bunch of different model numbers? Do you know specifically which Ryzen 7 you're using? Also, as I mentioned before, what GPU do you have?
Funksnark Sep 7, 2021 @ 5:10am
Yes, I have updated my AMD Driver, so that can not be the issue.

(after updating, it seems to fickerin in the correct textures really quickly, then goes again, in a mini second)

I have AMD Ryzen 7 - 4700U

AMD Radeon Graphics Processor (0x1636)
TSVStriFe Sep 7, 2021 @ 5:28am
I have an AMD Ryzen 7 3700x and a AMD Vega 64 and no issues here, mind you I'm one driver version behind atm.

@Funkshark does your laptop have another GPU in it? It's probably using the basic GPU that's on the CPU, if it's a "gaming" laptop they mostly have a more dedicated card which you need to switch to.
Funksnark Sep 7, 2021 @ 8:51am
@TSVStriFe

I have only 1 CPU, no other ones. This is not really a "gaming laptop"

The CPU AMD Ryzen 7 - 4700U has 8-cores, but no other CPU's are in this laptop

This looks to be something very much like a memory leak type issue to me. I've seen this type of thing occur in games before. Or, the ram fills up, and a glitch is keeping the ram from freeing up, and when this happens, the glitches occur in game + longer load times. Something like this is the culprit for what's going on, and they need to issue a patch to fix this.

I run monitoring software in the background, and every so often the CPU usage will skyrocket from the usual low usage % to 85-90%, when this occurs, the textures glitch out and then loading screens are about 2-3x longer as well.

I've been playing through it, and saving often, and one time I walked away afk for a few minutes in the menu, came back and the CPU usage % dropped from the high/glitched amount of 85-90% back down to normal range, and whatever the bug is appears to have fixed itself temporarily? But if I keep playing it ultimately happens again at some point.

When the texture glitch occurs, if you try to open a shop, the game hangs, or crashes to desktop, but outside of that, you could technically play through it, although with glitched textures and longer loading times.

PC specs:

Ryzen 5 1600x
16GBs DDR4 3200mhz
GTX 1080ti (latest drivers, but it did the same on older ones as well)
1TB Samsung Evo 970 NVMe M.2 drive
Windows 10 pro 64 bit

Another thing to note guys, is when I played this game on Switch, I noticed that the performance would gradually degrade over time, and this game had a lot of performance/optimization issues on the switch. When the game would start lagging and hitching and having longer load times, I'd restart the game, and the issue would be fixed for a bit, but I never ran into the texture glitch issue on Switch. However, I got monitoring software on PC that can tell me that CPU usage has spiked up, which coincides with the decrease in performance, which hints to a memory leak type issue going on here, and this may have also occurred on the Switch version as well.

Until they release a patch to fix this issue on PC, I can't recommend anyone buy it, certainly not at this price point. So, I've given the game a *thumbs down*.

You're having an entirely different issue from me. With me, the game runs fine until I hit a memory leak type situation where the CPU usage skyrockets, textures start glitching, accompanied by increased load times, and lower frame rates, and crashes.

You're saying this happens to you all the time. That's a separate issue, but yet another issue with the game nonetheless.

Also, you're running on integrated graphics on that laptop, which could be causing the issue you're experiencing, but my PC exceeds the recommended specs, whereas your laptop is sketchy.

I have gotten farther than this to the next town and haven't encountered a single graphical glitch or crash.
Ryzen 3950X / Vega 64
2560x1440 resolution on 144 Hz monitor
Proton 6.3-6 (Fsync enabled)
Mesa 21.1.5 with RADV/Kernel 5.13.4
