Components missing or just seem wrong
Not sure what I did... maybe edited a previous level.. but later levels seem messed up now. Any ideas what I should check for the easiest way of sorting this out? Things like my ALUs now appear to be different things altogether. It's very unclear what later levels pull in, and is there a way to reset them? Don't remember this happening when I played before.

Would be good to show a screenshot of what you mean or describe an example in more detail so people can suggest things to do. I have trouble visualizing what you're referring to.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3756888522 is what happened after I loaded up this level I'd already comleted.. not the missing decode and ALU sections near the top.
Then, to make it worse, when I went to put them back, my components seemed messed up, like the wrong designs had been saved to them. It's all a bit unclear what's happened. I'm sure I've done something, but not really clear or what, or how best to fix it.

Yeah, that's strange. I can think of a few scenarios that could cause CCs to disappear from a circuit, but not sure if they apply to you.

One is when built-in components that are not allowed to be used in the level are used in the CCs. Then the game will remove those CCs from the circuit once you open it. This might have happened if the allowed vs. disallowed components were changed in between last time you completed the level and now.

The other would be that the CCs in question no longer exist as files. So the game will remove them from the circuit. As to how that could happen, I'm not sure. Steam Cloud Sync has a tendency to do the wrong thing. So if you have that enabled, you could consider disabling it for this game specifically and do your own backups or copies between several devices.

Also, if the files for the Custom Components really disappeared or are corrupted, I can at least suggest you could look in your save game folder under schematics\foundry\NAMEOFYOURCC\ and see if there are any circuit_backup_X.data files, where X is a number. The game automatically creates some backup files from older versions of your circuit. If you want to try them, rename the circuit.data to some safe name the game won't touch, like circuit.data.safe and then choose one of the backups, ideally starting with the newest one circuit_backup_0.data and rename that to circuit.data. Then you can try opening the CC in the Foundry in the game. If that has too old of a version you don't want, rename it all back.

What you could also check is schematics\component_factory\, because the former Component Factory was renamed to Foundry at some point. If you played the level when it was still called Component Factory, then the game would now have tried to copy the component_factory folder over to the foundry folder, but it might have failed at some point. So maybe the missing components are still in the old folder.
I started again after the last update, so yeah, not sure that applies to me. I'm guessing something got messed up after I maybe changed a previous level while looking at it. It's possible I tidied something up without realising it would break stuff, or maybe it has picked up something from my previous save? Thanks for the info about where the files are etc... I might look into that, but uggg.... :).
Think I've unpicked it now, and also understand how the saves work etc. Guess it would help if it was more obvious what gets updated if you change a previous test... by accident or not :).
