Multiplayer?
According to the Steam store, Turing Complete is single player only. Is or will there be an option to play with friends and collaborate in real-time (i.e on a self-hosted dedicated server like in minecraft or other multiplayer games)?

There currently is not and it's unlikely to be added in the foreseeable future.

i have a hard time seeing how collaborating on circuits in real time could be useful
like, you are more likely to get in the way of each other due to conflicting ideas
imagine one person trying to add edits to one part of the circuit, while the other person wants to run the circuit in order to test their part

It's not a game where ticks are running all the time, you have to pause all edits to run multiple ticks of the simulation. The best way to collaborate would be to share screen on
(discord) video call, and sharing files for custom components or edited schematics.
