The Fingers?

How do I beat them? I've searched it on Youtube and they just hit them with the axe til they're gone, but the fingers for them popped up a lot slower. When I play, the fingers come much faster and I run out of stamina before I can kill them. What do I do?

Are you using Marty the snail? Otherwise I would recommend to run around for a bit to regain stamina. And Get out ASAP if a monster comes running after you from outside the screen.

Your walking pace is the perfect speed to just avoid the hitbox, including without snail. Wait until he actually tries to hit you, fail, and then turn around to hit him. If you try to hit him before that, it's just a bad time.
