I'd rather preferred to give this a thumbs up, but after finishing the game, I'm thoroughly in the 'do not recommend' portion now.

The game is centred around a protagonist that finds herself in a mystery to solve that her late grandfather couldn't. Said protagonist slowly gets obsessed over it and the player has a point-and-click style sort of way to get through this game. I like the deduction system, the elements, the environments and the travelling.
Looks and sounds good so far.

First, the good: The voice cast did their best with the material they had to work with. The music is pretty good and the art style is visually pleasing.


Now the... Not so good: The dialogue and story is mediocre at best, cringe at worst. The protagonist became from rather endearing little rascal to... Really unlikable quite fast. She holds very little moral high ground (because she's quite literally bullying, threatening, and insulting people, as well as destroying property along the way). She becomes insufferable near the final part of the game, where dialogue felt like a two-year-old knowing they did something naughty and got their candy taken away from them as a result.
The villain(s) become very one note as well, where they let the protagonist get away with far too much leniency because of the aforementioned crying. At first, however, the villain actually seems well done and fleshed out, too.
The text / dialogue: I just found out that SenAm isn't a native English speaker and it kind of proves. Some of the sentences are really janky and there are a _lot_ of spelling errors - like I'm sure area also in this 'review'.
'Come on, breath!' followed by 'Breath, breath' - instead of 'breathe' is a pet peeve of mine and it happened for far too long at a certain section. Calling someone a 'lier' instead of 'liar' and of course, the classic 'solider' instead of 'soldier'.

Now, the above may seem nitpicky, but it becomes very annoying, very fast. I've played plenty of indie games in the past and tolerated much of this... Then came the ending of this game and I must say that I'm thoroughly disappointed.
Yes, there are abrupt endings in games. Yes, a lot of games tend to do the mystery box thing at the end. This felt as if it simply wasn't finished at all. As if the money was depleted and they cut in a cheeky cutscene at the end to indicate 'this is the end!' We get a dialogue that's a quote from somewhere and the game ends.

Is this a first part of a series? Is that the end? What happens? What was the point of 'any' of this? Why have a huge setup for the protagonist, his possible love interest, a never ending life to be cut short like that?
Yes, I've tried to make this spoiler free, but I'm not entirely certain that spoiling the game makes any difference here. The object of the game is met (unsatisfactory) and then it ends.

If I am going to say something else that's quite nice, then it's that some of the side characters (as one note as they are) are pretty good... Except for the protagonist's brother, I wanted to shoot him in the face myself. And the protagonist got really annoyed with the brother as well, so does that explain something about him, her, or me?

All in all, I would recommend playing the demo, or prologue. For what that is, it's really good and it's what hooked me to this game in the first place. The demo doesn't outstay its welcome either, unlike this game. Which is even more sad, considering it's about four, maybe five hours long? I went afk or did other things during the game and eventually had to plough through the end.

This game looks amazing. And it has pretty good voice acting.

Here stops the list of qualities, as far as I can tell.
The puzzles are nonsensical, the UI is sadistic... It seems the devs didn't want you to figure things out by yourself, but rather just wanted you to be frustrated and confusingly click around until you stumbled upon whatever nonsense they had in mind.
Add to that a bunch of random characters who are about as sympathetic as mosquitos on a hot summer night and about as interesting as an almost-retired university professor who forgot anyone is actually listening...

This is a not a puzzle game. This is torture.

To be fair (or try to be): I didn't go very far in the game. I couldn't stand it and frankly didn't want to run afoul of Steam's refund policy. It is possible the game gets much better later on... but I fail to see why it would have postponed any content of any redeeming value to later. So hard as hell do NOT recommend.

I wish I could give a 'neutral' review because I really cannot totally recommend the game and I really don't want to give it a full negative review.

Pros:
Music was really good and added a nice ambiance to the story.

Art was great looking and the action sequences were amazing because you get to step back and watch the moment unfold.

The overall story was pretty good, I enjoyed the concept and the backstory they built.

There is a dog and you can pet it.

I got to punch a Nazi which was pretty awesome

Cons
I did not like the main character. She is kinda needlessly antagonistic to everyone and there's a long sequence where your brother feels like he is being followed and gets really scared, you meet him at Octoberfest where he is wasted drunk and you knock him out with a punch to steal his vodka (which you later remove the label from and give to a diabetic priest who is a recovering alcoholic and you pin a crime on, whole sequence was just bad) then you call his friend to watch over him and end up having him just get dumped at your apartment, then when you visit him you just yell at him and shake him around as he's having a panic attack cause he's terrified and you're trying to get information out of him. Then you leave him there (where he gets kidnapped by the antagonist to be used against you) and your character complains every time he calls trying to get comfort You basically go around actively making people's lives worse in the name of solving a mystery that your grandfather left you. the big bad dude who is two thousand years old and smarter than everyone with seemingly infinite political power honestly never would have ever solved the mystery if you the player didn't solve it for him . She also beats up a Nazi (who honestly deserved it) and then later comes back to find him and piss him off so a police officer would arrest him.
All around she just did not work for me as a protagonist.

Like many mystery games your character will think outloud and let you know what you need to do next on the most obvious little things, but then you would need to do something very specific and unrelated to what's going on to progress and your character would tell you nothing. I beat the game, I figured out all the puzzles but I did not enjoy quite a few of them.


Overall
I would buy this game and I would play it again but I don't think it was all that great.

Beautifully crafted game for all adventure and visual storytelling fans. Having played just a while, I'm really excited to see how the story continues to unfold.

Bought this game because... well, honestly, you could've named this 'Computer Virus - A Detective Noir Story' and I would still go "Ooh, a Detective Noir story!" and buy it. It's an engaging story with simple but effective - and occasionally just a tiny bit confusing - gameplay, fantastic artwork throughout, and despite some surface level faults (occasional unclear gameplay, really could have used a closing voiceover narration explaining the aftermath of the ending, which instead happens immediately and then cut straight to credits) then it's a fun experience throughout and I would highly recommend.

Also at one point you have to distract a Nazi and your friend says "Have you tried debating him in the marketplace of ideas?" and you look at her, and she looks at you, and then she says "Ha! Just kidding. Knock that @$$hole out." And you do. So 10/10 for that.

This game got me hooked from the first illustrations I saw. It plays in Munich and as a local you feel very much connected with the scenery.
It's a graphic novel with some Lucas Art game attitudes. You combine things in your inventory to solve puzzles but you are not just combining objects but also abstract things like what you saw or discovered.
Pros:
- Great art style
- Tough main character
- Good voice actors
Cons:
- Like in LucasArt oder Sierra adventures some of the puzzles are not as intuitive to solve as you want them to be. From time to time I was just combining everything with everything because I got stuck
- Puzzles could be harder especially the decoding puzzle would have been so cool to do yourself instead of the character doing it for you

In terms of story, art, style and general ambience, Hauma was good and entertaining. It made me want to visit Munich.

In terms of game play, the basic idea of "combine ideas to solve mysteries" was good, but the execution left a lot of room for improvement. I ran into a bug where a certain scripted event wouldn't be triggered, until I ran back and forth several times. There were some action sequences where the wrong choice simply would get you killed and you just had to retry until you got it right. The puzzles were sometimes simply frustrating. Also, the ending was a bit of an anticlimax, especially with the end puzzle.
The story was also very linear with no apparent multiple endings, which limits replayability.
Would I recommend it? Yes, but with the caveats mentioned above.

This game has such a unique art style which I absolutely love! I also really like the connection between a visual novel and detective game. The humour in this game is pretty fun and I enjoyed uncovering all the mysteries and riddles. Definitely recommended!

For the most part, a point & click type of game, but you’ll need to collect all the clues, to revisit multiple locations, construct your own conclusions as to what happened and to tie everything together.

The gameplay making you think outside the box. All the clues and items you collect you can piece clues and thoughts together in the mindboard in the form of mini puzzles, to form new leads.

You will visit the historical sites of Munich, which gained fame during the Third Reich/Nazi Germany.

The story is leans more towards being linear with its progression, wrong choice will get Judith killed.
