9-bit vs 8-bit
What are the differences between the two?
IIRC, you couldn't build another HQ to start a second base in 8-bit.
Is this the same in 9-bit?

You can build a mobile HQ that you can move anywhere on land and deploy. Once deployed you can build in a radius around it.

Other new features:
More units and buildings for the two armies factions
Naval warfare
Functional and destroyable bridges
Larger maps
Daily challenge mode
Higher zoom height
Mod support

Removed features:
conquest mode

Oh good, once 9-bit Invaders comes out I can get it on sale.
Thanks!

More detailed units and buildings, a bit more particle effects, reflections added to bodies of water, more animation details also. Music is more varied than the 8 bit soundtrack.

Also units have more variations in their voice actors and voice lines compared to 8bit, if I remember correctly units in 8bit at launch didn't have voice or very limited (I could be wrong)

Yep that's right. At launch 8-Bit Armies had no unit voices, nor did 8-Bit Hordes. They both eventually got voice packs as free DLC though, and 8-Bit Invaders (thankfully) launched with voices already in place.

I'm glad Petroglyph actually got it right this time and added voices from the get-go! And like you said, the voices in 9-Bit are much better overall.

Any possible expansion like that will depend upon sales of the base game. We will be releasing in early access later this month which will also affect what the roadmap looks like.

So it's possible we could get expansions?
On that note yeah I'll wait to buy this, I don't want to buy a bunch of expansions I'd rather wait and see what the 'final product' looks like

Interesting. Thanks for the list. Sounds more like a patch though - are there any big items missing?

Is the campaign in any way better than 8-bit armies? (any story, better mission design, less focus on just getting stars) From what I've seen it isn't, but just looking to further confirm this.

Any other notable improvements other than "more stuff"? Is the game more polished? Do controls/movement feel any different (better or worse) in any way?

Have only played a few missions but I'd say the mission design is better. There is still an emphasis on doing secondary objectives but I find the objectives more interesting than 8-bit which I felt were just Skirmishes with side challenges.

Still, they're not quite as deep as what you'd find in C&C or craft games.
