Heat 5 is the end product of at least six years of development so I think it's pretty obvious it's going to be a better game than Ignition. Also, putting things into a little perspective: This is not Heat 6 (it's a completely different game by completely devs) so comparing it to last year's release makes no sense whatsoever.

I have no objection to gamer's knocking Ignition (my XBox review is just as damning as Steam reviews) but we all knew what we were getting into when we made our purchase. It was always going to be a barebones game designed to fund future releases and if it wasn't for the fact that custom setups (including wheel/controller configs) + private lobbies were excluded most would have been happier with the game 'as is' because they could have played it in a different way instead of being forced down the very specific path that the game currently insists upon.

Ignition isn't a bad game, it's a game that in it's current state you have to 'dumb down' in order to get the best out of it....and not unlike NHE, WRC, F1 and countless other franchises it's a game that will be annually drip fed features to try justify our year-on-year purchase. We knew that all along.

My only genuine gripes with Ignition are that the saves are constantly corrupting and it is next to impossible to use a wheel without those much needed custom setups. Beyond those I can cope with the game....and if I must compare then it's infinitely better than NASCAR Heat Evolution

I personally like Ignition over the Heat games (after heat 2, maybe 3) because the crash model Eutechnyx used was thrown out the window. When MG made the AI cautious, I thought they made them too cautious, the reaction speed is too fast. The moment you start going sideways, they slam the brake. But anyway, I prefer Ignition over the Heats.

what I meant by " because the crash model Eutechnyx used was thrown out the window." I meant, when 704 got rid of the crash model, I was pissed, and when MG made the AI cautious, I was mad bc the only reason I bought the game was the dumb ass crashes. I bought it the day after the change was made as well.

Heat 5 was (and still is) a good game. Yes, it is not a sim in any sense, but still can be challenging on high difficulty. The driving and FFB is very generic, though.
