A long standing credo of *House is found to be false, and now they will do anything to hide their shame.
1- It has been discovered that one of the relatives of the elder rank members of the *House is using a commoner double to attend all public events, formal private events, and even some classified meetings! He is claiming is for security reasons, but clearly is avoiding duty.
2- One young member of the *House has been caught on an illegal space race, while winning the race, it also slammed into a patrol craft while trying to escape the scene!
3- A couple of nobles caused an scene in front of the imperial palace while waiting for the audience, insulting each other, with insults like "Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!" and many others.
4- One prominent scientist member of the *House has recently started claiming that the universe and reality we live in is a simulation, or a game of short. This person has clearly gone insane and it's making the scientific comunity to lose credibility.
A: "Let them eat cake"
Cadet branch of a house has been throwing extravagant parties while the people are neglected. Options can be to reprimand their indulgences, support their rights to do as they wish, "let them eat cake", deny the poor conditions, or spend money to make it go away.
B: "Xenophillic heir!"
The heir to a noble house has allegedly been spending a suspicious amount of time with an alien envoy. The media has caught wind of this, and accusations of treason and equally scandalous behaviors have stirred the people into unrest.
C: "House commits fraud?"
An auditor noticed that this year's financial records for [house] differ from last year's, showing previous years as worse that they allegedly were at the time.
D: "Smuggler in training?"
An heiress from a noble house has been caught with a cargo of exotic goods and substances of questionable origin, and threatened/bribed imperial agents to make it go away. There's a lot of potential variants of this where the threats/bribes worked, didn't work, or were exposed by a third party.
E: "Leeching of imperial resources"
An "error" has lead to imperial resources being diverted over a period of years from their intended destination to planets or institutions more aligned with (or against) a house.
F: "Trade war!"
A feud between merchant houses has lead to an increase of violent and/or legislative interference with freighters in the sector. There's the potential for economic penalties, unrest (as the empire allows the petty violence to continue unchecked), or noble discontent.
G: A noble house is attempting to bring an overly adventurous son back into the fold after their wanderlust led to some legally questionable pirate like behavior.
H: "[House] Provokes border conflict"
A detachment of forces from a noble house has sparked a conflict with a neighboring faction. Options could be from owning it and following up with an offensive to save face to trying to sweep it under the rug at the cost of prestige or morale (with the benefits of not getting attacked).
I: "[House] Cuts corners on navy vessels"
A shipyard owned by a noble house has been found to be cutting corners, leading to ruptures during FTL travel and the loss of at least a dozen ships, including that of the late assistant junior deputy minister of protocol.
J: "Embellished awards." A prominent member of [house] has been discovered to have many awards based on embellished or fraudulent acts of valor in heroism in service to the empire!
K: Junior members of the [House A] and [House B] houses have been found colluding with eachother to host an alien fighting competition right here on Terra! It has gained a worryingly large following among the populace, and they've made a small fortune on betting already.
L: The young son of [Head of house] thought it funny to bluff and threaten their way into the Emperor's stables, for the purposes of releasing his prized stallions onto the streets of terra as a"joke". Most have already been recovered, and his father begs for our forgiveness.
* An extremely elderly Noble is revealed to have had hundreds of organ transplants, including brain grafts and limb replacements. This leads to Ship of Theseus arguments that it is no longer the same person.
* X Noble has been having inappropriate romantic involvement with a commoner (it is not so much the fact that he is doing it, almost all the nobles are, but rather that he is taking her to social functions far above her status and it is annoying the other guests)
* A dead asteroid was discovered to be a secret cache for illegal material (weapons, drugs, scientific experiments), and it is licensed to X noble. This noble claims that they have the license for thousands of asteroids, and that they cannot possibly guarantee the security of every far-flung rock in their name from being used by smugglers.
* A noble has been found to be farming clones for organs, which is entirely acceptable, however, the noble has also been serving them to guests as food at his family functions. Which is also acceptable, however, he is not using the proper spices! These meals taste terrible and are far from the sinful delicacies that they are intended to be!
* While sitting at the dinner table with the emperor, a nobleman thoughtlessly picked up his napkin before the emperor did.
* A noble has been taking millions of credits in public funding to build military defense stations, but one of these so-called defense stations was in fact a colossal pleasure garden filled with flowers, reserved for his personal enjoyment. This has very little, if any, strategic value! Though he insists it is important for keeping the commander's (his) morale high, which does unfortunately follow a precedent you have set with one of your own pleasure garden-military-bases.
* One of your noble houses has a vassal minor house, who, you have just found out, is run by a dog. The house's line died out decades ago, and left everything to their family pet. They are, essentially, running the estate as stewards, doing anything they wish with it, having effectively inherited it, yet for reasons that look suspiciously like tax evasion and parliamentary fraud, they have not formally annexed the house and continue to insist that the dog is the rightful lord.
