Trine 2 is still the best among all Trine games
Perfect balance between realistic graphics and interesting combat \ puzzles

Ok, let me be a little more specific. It didn't look as over-cartoonish as Trine 4. The goblin forest / desert temple / beach / dwarfs caverns (from free DLC) and etc. - it was just breathtaking.
Trine 4 is nothing in comparison to that one. It's not bad, but still not the quality level of Trine 2

If you consider Trine 4 to be over-cartoonish, I shudder to think what do you think about Spyro Reignated Trilogy. I don't think there is even word for that.

Also, the expansion isn't free. It's just included in bundle with the main game.

Totally agree, Trine 2 is all what I remember of all Trines, Every level was unique and made very well.

Only issue is that Trine 2 online was pretty poor...

Trine 2 was the best one, without a doubt.

Trine 2 was memorable for sure I had good memories with it.

It’s still the best till now for sure.

I concur that for my tastes, the art direction took a turn for the worse with Trine 4 - with a very cutesy, Eastern Asian 'kawaii' sort of style. Trine 1-3 had a nice balance between visceral texture / realism and fairytale elements, although the tendency for "maximum visual enchantment" has been present ever since Trine 2 - hefty saturation and lots of bloom. Given what people usually do with ReShade, this maxing out eye candy at the expense of subtlety and balance may be widely popular. Still, I have been able to enjoy every game so far because of the other strengths.

I played just a few levels of 5, better than the second so far, let's see how it goes.

( about half way of Trine 5 )
My impression is that they tried to emulate the gameplay of the Trine 2 DLC / Goblin Menace in Trine 5. It is comparably combat heavy, but lighter on puzzles which have (in Trine 5) mostly as in Trine 2 DLC one solution.

Amadeus is also treated by his wife similar in both Trine 2 DLC and Trine 5.

My favorite part about earlier Trines were the designs. Give Zoya her face cowl back unless that's an unlock I guess.

Disagree, game is gorgeous. I'm enjoying it more than Trine 2.
