As someone who has played the original Flash game back in high school, I was incredibly excited going into this remake. And all I can say is that this remake surpassed many of my expectations and subverted others when I played it.

Pros:
-The combat is pretty solid all around, especially late game when you start unlocking more stuff.
-The art style is very charming and the 8-bit characters and environments are very distinct.
-The music is REALLY good and memorable.
-The enemy variety is huge and the constant shifts in enemies as you go on is pretty nice.
-The amount of areas you can explore is really great.
-The puzzles are pretty challenging without being obscenely difficult.
-The progression was fair and balanced for the most part.
-The dungeon design is overall really great, even if they aren't the biggest dungeons ever.
-The story is MUCH better than the original.

Cons:
-Some parts of the combat needed work, especially with the base attacks and some of the bat abilities.
-Some puzzles were unnecessarily difficult, and if you know, you know.
-Some enemy attacks needed to be toned down due to how much high damage or stun locks there could be.

But overall it's a really fun experience that brought me back and really makes me hope that there IS a second game, ever. It's the most fun I've had in a while, so much that I sometimes even forget the concept of time to where HOURS pass without me knowing.
