Enable steam cloud?
Hi devs, this game is great so far, but I just noticed that my saves aren't syncing when I switch computers. Any chance steam cloud could be enabled for this game?

Ugh. i just found this out today also. Please enable.

Edit: I find it convenient as well when I'm booting up games that I played long ago and find they have Steam cloud enable, but I personally don't mind replaying the games I like from start.

Anyway, for the PC version of this game, here are where the save data are located:
  • Windows: \AppData\LocalLow\CapeCosmic
  • Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/CapeCosmic/PhoenotopiaAwakening
  • (or) ~/Library/Application Support/unity.CapeCosmic.PhoenotopiaAwakening

Yep, so you can hackily work around this by copying your saves from those locations, but it would be much nicer if Steam Cloud sync were enabled.

That's why I haven't bought this game. Since it's long game, cloud save syncing is mandatory for me.

I am probably not gonna need it... but yeah, cloud synching seems like a base feature at this point.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm not sure if PHOA is available for the Linux system.

It's not available for Linux, but most Windows games run through the Proton compatibility layer. However when they do, the save games are located in a different spot, namely
<STEAM ROOT>/steamapps/compatdata/<GAME ID>/pfx/<WINDOWS PATH>
. e.g. my Steam root is
~/.local/share/Steam
, Phoenotopia's game ID is
1436590
, and the Windows path is the same as the paths listed above for Windows save games.

Amen to this! Any chance of it happening, devs?

Doesn't seem like the devs are reading this. Shame too, because adding steam cloud save support is literally just a matter of changing some configuration in their Steam storefront :'(

This is a must for this kind of game for me. No cloud save, no buy.

I've been playing this game for almost half a year and it's almost over. When I changed my computer,I discovered that it didn't have cloud saves.
What's up? Do the owners of 2 computers continue to transfer their save archives to themselves in the same way as people on trips with their Steam Deck? After all, the game is not for one hour and you will not always be able to make such a backup copy and will have to start all over again due to unscheduled system reinstallations. Thanks for saying that, I'm amazed at the lack of this feature too.
hi devs, I'm a Steam dev too (released a game in 2011 in a genre people now call 'Roguelite', which is really funny. Made it before others too. lol) anyways you can use auto steam cloud y'know. Speak to your rep! because I own this on Switch - both my wife and I love it. And that has auto cloud too. Steam version super needs it. Its an amazing little game and I want to support you lot with a double-dip :) BUT cloud saves, as a Deck owner, are too important.

Just adding on to the others here, steam cloud should honestly be a bare minimum requirement, especially in the age of the steam deck. For the love of god, update this to include steam cloud.
