For your photos of the sports team, since you took them yourself, you own the copyright so you should be fine in this case.
However, just fyi, even if you took photos of e.g. Chicago Bulls, that doesn't mean you're allowed to put their logos, branding, trademarks etc. When in doubt, consider modifying or parodying the images to sidestep any trademark issues.
Although, I suppose this is an amateur team in your case?
As for using objects from other DLCs, that’s completely allowed! Just make sure your room includes at least three objects from The Artifact Pack and uses them meaningfully in puzzles or storytelling.
If you’re not sure whether an object is from a DLC or the base game, you can check the Object Browser in the game. DLC objects are usually grouped under their own categories. You can also cross-reference with the DLC’s store description or ask on our Discord server if you need more clarification and help from our builders :-)
You can join here: https://discord.gg/pinestudio and head to "competitions" channel. For more general questions about the Room Editor, you can head to the "room-editor" channel.
Hope that helps, and best of luck with your room!
It would've been a cool tribute, considering my passion for the team, but I'd rather play it safe than cause a scene. Thank you for your input Thoroniul. I thought on it overnight, and I seem to have came to the same conclusion. Hearing it from you helps me solidify my decision :)
EDIT. I just saw the post above yours and I'm still reading it.
Thanks so much for your response. I found all kinds of articles last night and thought on it.. But your answer is better than just omitting entirely. I can do some parodies :D Because I want the character to be a sports fanatic. (I even autographed the basketball in the game lol) I can cartoonize them a bit, perhaps, so they are not really recognizable.)
The team is a big name team, and they are rising up the ranks. I'm very proud of them. TBH it's the only team I follow across all realms of sports. I can, perhaps, create anew based on the images, too. Keeping it a bit cartoony to match the style of the game.
I wanted to use the flashlight but got frustrated when, after resizing things, the battery's appearance became flat and looked nothing like a battery.
This game is great. I fell in love with it even more once I started creating my own room. I'm enjoying this immensely. I spent 7 hours on it yesterday. I'm learning a lot.
Thanks so much for everything!
Warm regards,
xts
Hey xts!
Glad the response helped! Love the idea of making parodied/cartoonized versions. Sounds like a great way to keep the spirit of your team while staying in the clear :-)
If they’re the only team you follow, then yeah, totally makes sense to work them into your room. A stylized, cartoony version could fit perfectly with the game’s vibe.
Also, 7 hours straight? That’s dedication! Hope you keep having fun with it and can't wait to see the results! :-)
Let me know if you hit any more roadblocks!
Cheers!
Yes, I'm loving it. I really like the control + right mouse button. That is a life saver. I hit a lot of snags, but I usually find a way to make it work. I built a chest out of y'all's parts. A window frame + a domino + floor panels. haha
This really is a lot of fun to do. I'm hoping, when it's closer to done, that there isn't much removal of things that shouldn't be used. I was not able to cartoonize them, but I did remove the images and go more on about basketballs and aliens. lol
Hopefully, MS Designer images are acceptable, it's helping with the theme. I have a free account. I use the images for my desktop wallpapers all the time. I already had some, which is how I got the idea for the theme.
There's so much to consider when making a room. Especially one to share with others. Wanting to get it right.
I gave up on the flashlight. The fresh/new battery never would work right for me.
But yeah, it's great. Thanks so much for the opportunity. I needed this. Perfect timing. :)
Hey XTS!
Love hearing that you’re having a blast with it! The Ctrl + right-click trick really is a lifesaver :-) Once you get used to it, it’s hard to imagine building without it :-)
Good call on shifting the theme to basketballs and aliens. Sometimes, things don’t quite work out as planned, but it sounds like you found a way to make it fit. As for MS Designer images, as long as you have the rights to use them, it should be fine, but it’s always good to double-check just in case.
Glad you're enjoying the process, and looking forward to seeing what you come up with :-)
I'm really enjoying it but trying to keep an idea on how to change it again if MS Designer cannot be used. I may be out of ideas if I cannot use what I've already created in all of these hours of editing and adjusting.
I'm still confused on AI Generated Images by use of my words for the hobby/challenge I am participating in. (creating a room). I think it depends on what you intend to do with what we make. ?? If it's just a challenge, is it okay to use the images that I used my own text input to create? That's the question I still have. I've read and read, I'm not seeing anything except for trade and commerce, which I don't believe this to be, but I could be wrong when it comes to specific terms.
With this being a challenge that could potentially have a payout, that confuses me even more. It's all so new, too.
The rules kept changing, also, as the program changed.
I'm thinking MS Designer AI Generator would be okay to use for images in a game platform that is for fun. It's like a fine line that I don't understand the details of. I could use some added advice on this from anyone who understands the legal side of it.

Thanks for the encouragement and help. I appreciate it, and the fun journey.

EDIT: Hey, Izzy I was in a rush.. Apologies, my response was not as personal as I'd like it to be.
It happens a lot with me. But, I wanted to say, about the controls. I find myself enjoying many of them in edit mode. Angles and all. See, my middle mouse button is kinda wonky. I hold my mouse sideways so the middle mouse button often has issues after a bit. lol I kinda wear it out. Being able to use other options is awesome. Thanks to you and your team for making it user friendly, answering questions, being here for the peeps that believe in you, and for keeping it updated.
I have a question. Is there a trigger or some other action option that could be used to make a full game of chess? Repeated options? For example, I could use "animation" to make it move one move. But, after that, there's no option to move somewhere else in an animation #2, and #3, and so on. I thought about visibility as an option, but i can't see the moves easily after they have animated, and it seems really deep in needing more interactions than I can possibly keep up with.
Goal: To trigger animated games played out (not controlled by player, but instead, like seeing a game being played by ghosts. More-or-less)
Thanks again,
xts
No worries at all, and thanks for the thoughtful message. Glad to hear you’re enjoying the controls, even with the middle mouse struggles. Sounds like you’ve really been diving deep into the editor.
On the AI images—yeah, you’re good to use them, including MS Designer or any other platform. Just keep it simple and make sure it doesn’t take away from originality or puzzle quality, as mentioned in the contest rules.
As for the chess animation question, that’s a tricky one. There might be a way to make it work, but it’d take some creative setup. I’d recommend hopping into our Discord and asking in #room-editor or #competitions. Some of our builders might have ideas or workarounds.
Here’s the link: https://discord.gg/pinestudio.
Hope that helps! Let me know if anything else comes up.
Cheers
Thanks so much for your response. Thanks for the answer on MS Designer AI Generator. *wipes pretend sweat from forehead*
I don't have discord installed atm. I suppose I can see if I can get it going again. It may be worth it. I am somewhat creative. I grew up with cardboard boxes, and an etch-a-sketch.
Thanks again!
Have a wonderful rest of your day,
xts
Glad that clears things up for you!
Hands you a pretend towel for the pretend sweat 😆
Yeah, if you can get Discord up and running again, it’s definitely worth it. There are a lot of creative minds in there who might have some good ideas for your chess setup.
Hope you have a great day too! Let me know if you need anything else.
Cheers!
I don't feel optimistic about the outcome when it comes to being liked best, but I do think it's a cool experience for those looking for something a little bit different. Thinking outside the box is about all I can do. I'm unfamiliar with what is in the box.
Thanks so much! I've enjoyed this experience and I appreciate you & the rest of your team for everything. That may have opened the door to working on my own 3D objects and creating another room in the future. It's kinda habit forming now. lol
Thanks again!
Cheers.
