Some pre-sales questions
Hi, have a few questions. From everything I've read for local two player there's no splitscreen and two copies have to be bought for use on two computers at the same time. Is that accurate?
If so, that means for local multiplayer the cost is actually 2X the price. I've noticed the price dips every month: https://steamdb.info/app/1435790/ (goes up Apr 14 and drops may 14, goes up aug 2 and drops sept 2, etc)
However, for whatever reason it hasn't this last cadence (up sept 14, still up oct 15). Will it not be dropping again? The game looks interesting but way to janky for $40 local multiplayer and a hard pass.

Lastly, there's been reports of a recent update breaking things. Is that a common experience or just a few edge cases?

Thanks!

Hi there!

First of all, that is accurate. There is no split screen. You can either buy two copies, or just play on the same screen, solving puzzles together (also works fine).

The price dips are because of sales. You can wishlist the game and wait for the next sale to buy it at a more discounted price. Sales are pretty regular. As for the price in general, I wouldn't say 20$ for a game that has dozens of hours of quality content is to steep. But if you find that it is, you can always wait for a discount.

In general game isn't broken. There might be a odd bug here and there, but everything works as intended.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks for reaching out and confirmation. I suppose I was more wondering if sales are being postponed for some reason (deviation from historical cadence suggests some sort of change). I would agree that $20 is not unreasonable but with local two player requiring two copies (one person controlling and other watching doesn't sound too interesting, frankly) the price is effectively $40 for base with no DLC. I'm not sure my wife and I would play enough for that to be worth it to us. I suppose I'll check later and see if she's still interested if/when it's back on sale again.
Thanks for your time.

Thank you for considering purchasing Escape Simulator with your wife. We believe that the price of $20 is reasonable, as we aim to support and update the game for a long time. While I understand your frustration regarding the lack of local co-op, I believe the amount of content the base game offers (even without paid DLCs) justifies the price. Additionally, there are over 4,000 community rooms available, and the number continues to grow every day :-)

That said, I respect your decision to wait for a sale, and I hope we’ll see both you and your wife in the Escape Simulator community soon :-)

The game is back on sale, if you are still planning to buy, this is the time to do it :)

Planning on playing with 2 other people. Does everyone need the DLC's or just 1 person in the group?

Hi, everyone needs the DLC. There are four free DLC-s available, and three paid ones.

All the above, or if youre playing in VR - you only need 1 copy, same with any DLC. Fantastic game.
