Thanks for the report. We don't have official support for it, so game can only be played via steam at the moment.
My wife and I absolutely love Escape Simulator and have played through almost all the official rooms + DLC together (have not completed powerwash yet) using nucleus co op. Hence why my steam play time is low even though we've really played many hours. We only have my PC unfortunately, may have to wait for official split screen if it comes :(
Hey, you still looking for a solution?
I've found a way!
I've only tested one map for now, but I'll be testing more later today. We'll see how it goes.
Here's a rather long explanation on how to do it, in case you're not too familiar with file locations and Steam Workshop etc:
1. Open the game normally through Steam so you can access the Workshop and download the map you want. Close the game when the download is done.
2. Open file explorer and head to Steam's workshop directory. Where it is for you depends on what drive you have Escape Simulator installed.
I have the game installed on a separate SSD, so for me the path is:
"F:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\workshop\content\1435790"
When you find out where it is for you and open the file, you should see all the Workshop maps you have downloaded. The problem is they're named after their mod ID's, so you won't see the actual map names.
You can figure out the mod ID's by finding the map you want in the actual Steam Workshop and checking the URL.
Once you've figured out the ID of the map you want, head back to the workshop directory and copy the right file.
3. Find out where you've saved the NucleusApp file. I think it should be on the same drive as the games you play with Nucleus.
If you have a shortcut of Nucleus saved on your desktop, you can just right click that and you'll see the option "Open file location".
When you find the NucleusApp file, you're gonna head to:
"NucleusApp\handlers\Escape Simulator\steam_settings"
Create a new folder called "mods" inside "steam_settings" and paste the map folder you copied there.
4. Open the game through Nucleus as you normally would and you should see the custom map in the Workshop section. There's still no proper name for the map, just the ID, but it's there and it works.
And that's it!
That’s awesome, so glad you were able to find a workaround! Here’s hoping it works for most or all maps :)
