I only bought escape simulator because of the existence of nucleus co-op (thanks to the amazing devs who made that software and add support for various games that don't have built-in split-screen/local co-op). This allowed my wife and I to play escape simulator together since we only have my PC, and we absolutely love it!
Since its an unofficial 3rd party software there are some quirks like no button prompts (you'll have to memorize what buttons do what at first) and I don't think you can play community rooms through it. Other than that it worked quite well.
Hopefully the PineStudio devs add official split-screen/local co-op in the future? (I would even pay more for this!) They seem like awesome people/devs that have already poured lots of time/love into Escape Simulator and very community oriented, and released a lot of free add-ons (rooms) and updates (like VR) already!
My mom and sister are obsessed with escape rooms, I like video games. Please just add local co op so I can blend our hobbies together and finally hang out with them :(
I'm really happy to see that escape rooms are something your family enjoys together :-)
Unfortunately, we're not adding local co-op to the game.
However, I sincerely hope you and your family can still have a blast playing together through online multiplayer or sharing the experience by solving puzzles as a team from the same room :-)
It's easy to understand, it's not simple and not just a button they can press. Devs have to consider the time and money investment it takes to develop it at the same time looking at the potential return. Compared to the amount of people that play online versus only ever sticking with local co-op, that's a small amount of players.
Don't get me wrong it sucks for players that don't play online, but not every game can cater to that group of people.
Its a bad return on investment.
Hey Sase, Escape Simulator does support Family Sharing, but shared copies can’t be played at the same time, whether in single-player or multiplayer. So, unfortunately, it won’t work the way you’re hoping. That said, the game goes on sale regularly, so it’s worth keeping an eye out for discounts to grab it at a more affordable price. Hope that helps! 😊
