Hey clutzyninja! There are a lot of great community rooms out there, which we we highlight in our daily and monthly picks. We can definitely recommend you to try out some of the monthly picks. There's a lot of variety in the community rooms as well, so hopefully you'll be able to find something that suits your tastes there!
That's great to hear! We hope you continue to enjoy Escape Simulator! 😁
1) Defunct (game updates that led to puzzles "breaking")
2) Work-in-progress
3) Copied/stolen maps that were resubmitted
Unfortunately, there's no way we can know if the room is defunct or stolen. We are manually checking every reported room and deleting if needed.
I've played nearly 270 maps and have a large list of rooms I know to be stolen (republished by different authors) or defunct (example: hit box for placing items no longer works, corroborated by multiple players via comments)
Hey Solenya! You should be able to report rooms by visiting the assigned Steam Workshop page. Here you should see several options (Award, Favorite, Share etc.). If you click the flag icon, you'll be able to report the room you deem stolen or defunct. Please let me know if you have any additional questions!
A map not working is not against steam TOS. Just leave a comment on the authors map, and they will likely address it.
I know. Which is why I asked for clarification from the developer who suggested I use it for reporting defunct maps.
To that end, I believe developers of the game have visibility into the reports. Wouldn't be outside norm for a function (report button) to be used for purposes outside of its intended scope (i.e. defunct map reporting).
Thanks for getting back to us, Solenya! To clarify, in case of a defunct room it would indeed be better to leave a comment on the author's map, so that they might address any issues caused by updates etc. As for any case where a room is not in agreement with Steam's terms of service, you can indeed use the flag option to report a room.
