In all seriousness, that's one problem that I have with the game. For what is basically a navy fleet simulator, it doesn't make me use my fleet very much in combat.
I didn't think allies were very distracting in Hammerfight, Highfleet's predecessor.
1. more ranged focus combat
2. friendly fire was something I performed a few times in my short try of Hammerfight and experienced equally
3. different games that play differently
While losing allies in hammerfight was suboptimal, they were free to get in the first place, and because of this quite free to loose. Hell, they may even drop something useful.
Here each stray shot suffered is potentially more gold and more time taken to repair, time and money you dont have half the time, and i would hate to see the AI drain my resources. While I wouldnt mind something like my ships taking potshots from outside the combat screen (or ground) that would be abusable and prone to ff.
At some point, video game gotta video game, there have been plenty of discussions about how multiple friendly ships in battle would require a huge overhall and rebalancing of the game to the point it would be a different game entirely
I think the fact that you get to outmaneuver the enemy easily and disengage freely more than makes up for being outnumbered.
True this, except when they launched annoying Tinnitus-grenades
