Badly-Drawn Star Men(BDSM) work orders ridicilous
Sharing my opinion that workorders are ridicilous.
Maybe implementing a cancel button or way easier materials would be a nice suggestion.
Dont know if im unlucky but I've gotten really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ones that take days to complete.

The formula is based on present production capacity, with basically 40-120 minutes planned per level of work order you take on. If you select an order, then make significant progress, the old order can be completed quickly, but that's about the only option to complete them in a timely manner.

Ultimately, you'll gain stars at a steady, but still slow pace from ISOPOD without having to fully commit to zero progress in other areas.

I see, thanks for clearing it up a bit. It makes a bit more sense now, as to why those orders are in such high quantities.
Just for reference. From what ISOPOD level on do stars drop?

it's an unlock research, requires Flesh T4 hearts. But the rewards are not exactly great. They are steady, but very low compared to WO.

Chonker WO are done in 8-10h. Just erase you factory, use beacon blueprint, and just fill it with items from hardest to lowest up to 1/10th of required amount as hourly speed. That will do it.

just idling everything seems very sub-optimal to me
they should nerf it the required materials for sure

cancelling and remaking work orders just leads to the world's easiest savescumming if you don't liek a specific materials, and work orders are meant to encourage you to make all the various materials

the work orders do vary from tiny (a couple hours) to chonk (16-24hours-ish), so try out a tiny one if you prefer!

I admit that cancelling is a bad idea if you put it like that. Backwards thinking on my end.

For background i reached T4 Flesh yesterday. Completed last order which was [1.8B Metal Frames and 2.08B Crap py staples] that was a medium order which took me a while to complete coz crap py staples are a pain.
Now for the next order it tells me to complete [198k Robo-Bu tts] and that was on a tiny order. What on that is tiny?

Yeah unbalanced work orders are the most frustrating thing at the moment in the game.

Tiny is your chance to complete it. But... I am sure it will get balanced in time. ;)

My first two work orders were easy enough, iron ore then copper ore. Then my third one was a tier 3 flesh construction that I had just unlocked.

Anyone figure out if it takes into account the entire production line to make the item or just a straight multiplier of production for the one factory?

Best I can tell, It's basically a full run of the item on all available tiles without any regard to prerequisites pumped into it. Basically does a simple check on your stats for the item it selects then calculates how much you should be able to do in roughly 90 minutes at that rate if you were to donate all your tiles to the endeavor. Keep in mind this is PER item requested. So a chonk takes 9 hours if you have all the crap to go hard at it assuming you haven't gotten any upgrades during that 9 hours to change the tide slightly in your favor for a trivially faster clear.

I don't understand why you think letting people that want to save-scum, save-scum, is a bad idea. Like what is the bad thing that will happen? People will get work orders they want? Oh the horror.

My first tiny work order was for Basic Computer Chips, took me 2 days to complete it. Next one was Crappy Staples and really easy. So its a bit random atm.

Yeah, this exactly, I've pretty much blown off WO's because even tiny ones take me all day, since it seemed to ask for really difficult to produce things, but I just got 2 in a row that were steel bars and then iron bars, and literally had enough of those on hand to just finish them... I guess random is good, but I think the pattern here is anything that is an ore/bar you can get in no time for WO's but the game needs to balance more complex requests like Rockets/Basic Chips/etc., because a Tiny Rockets WO shouldn't take longer than a Chonk Iron/Copper/Steel Bars WO. That just shows a lack of balance.

The worst : 1.19 Million Candy land T1 ressources when I just unlocked the candy land.
Only upgrade available : speed x2.5. (no BDSM upgrade avaible).
With the four maps, with most throughput beacons and only this ressource, I need 48h to complete the million.
Sure it is an idle, but c'mon, it's too much...
