What use is the big tool? It seems to be worse at polishing and can overheat an area then the small polishing tool. So I barely see any need to use it as it doesn't save any work from what I gathered and you just have the added risk that you will damage the shine.

I thought it was sanding before painting. Some reviewer mentioned "taking the car down to bare metal", so I thought it might be that. But since it doesn't remove deep scratches, nor does it reveal bare metal, that's not the answer either.

Also, I can't figure out the difference between using it with and without paste. It doesn't seem to change the size of the area of effect, time (shorten or lengthen the time it takes to do whatever it's doing), nor effect (polish does not keep the tool from stripping the paint).

I'd love to know what it's supposed to do and how you're supposed to use it.
