I get the same when I play Connie since I main her as well, it's my build that I have kept on ever since I entered higher levels where rush meta is more common. It's saved me many times in chases against killers that would otherwise catch up to me. I forget about putting all my attributes towards stealth and proficiency and put it more towards toughness and endurance for better value as well. I hope the tip helps your games.
It's unfortunate really, at the moment the rush meta has destroyed matches so everyone is essentially rushing to get out of basement and to get into basement. It's made playing TCM pretty boring as of late.
Thank you, I forgot to mention there is another perk you can run on Connie called Extra Drip where after you use a health item you can gain up to 6hp for 12 seconds when you have it at lvl 3 which is also really handy to have.
The question of Victim noise and what is optimal has been around since the game launched. Making as much noise as possible lets you escape as quickly as possible (since you minimize the time taken to get out of your restraints and get tools), but you risk other Family members coming downstairs to apply pressure and potentially starting a basement slaughter snowball. I think the general consensus was that among really skilled, aggressive Victim teams, which know all the best Victim escape routes and how to win Door Wars, where all the item spawns are and where all the doors are, it was best to just go loud and make as much of your dedicated time as possible (since Victims start before Family... if you hard-struggle out of your restraints you have maybe 10-15 seconds or so to run around doing stuff before Family is even out of its cutscene), to get out of the basement as quickly as possible... even if Grandpa wakes up literally at the end of the Family cutscene, sending Family members downstairs doesn't make sense if they've already got doors open and could be running around anywhere. But with newer players that can't capitalize on these narrow time windows as quickly as possible, making a ton of noise is a death sentence, the mild extra efficiency gained in doing tasks faster is not compensated for by the pressure when the other Family members come downstairs to try hunting the Victims.
This has become even more stark since the update. Car Battery starting on is a subtle but significant thing... it's a relevant chunk of time in a lot of cases that Family members simply don't need to devote to setup anymore. Which means the upstairs Family is able to gather blood for Grandpa faster than they could previously could, and is going to be more free to run downstairs faster. Johnny has literally nothing better to do than run down into the basement as soon as he can. Hitchhiker just needs to set up his traps. Sissy needs to decide if she wants to run downstairs and hunt or focus on gathering blood for Grandpa. Cook is really the only one who has very little incentive to go downstairs and apply pressure. Taking away the time spent going to and from the Car Battery and physically turning it on (how much that entailed depending on Family character choices and map... if they were Cook/Hitchhiker for instance on Slaughterhouse it was a gigantic waste of time, while on Gas Station it basically only costs Hitch the physical time it takes to turn the battery on) has indirectly massively shortened the window before which Family can run downstairs if the Victims wake up Grandpa. Which has probably pushed ideal Victim playstyle away from waking up Grandpa as early as possible and instead forestalling it until they're actually ready to escape the basement.
You do still need to hustle even if all the Victims are on the same page about not giving Johnny/Sissy/Hitch the opportunity to run straight down and start hunting you (which in a group of randos is far from certain, unfortunately), because of the aforementioned Family Can Wake Up Grandpa By Gathering Blood thing. But even with a dedicated blood harvester like Cook or Sissy, it's probably at least a minute to a minute and a half depending on exact circumstances to get Grandpa to Level 1, so that's a timer the Victims really need to be mindful of (as well as aware that Family will probably be quite a bit slower on the blood-gathering if it's Johnny/Hitch). There's four Victims and only one Leatherface in the basement, somebody should be able to get their hands on lockpicks and pop open a door within that timeframe. Of course, unfortunately you can only control yourself and what you do, and just hope that your teammates are also using their time as efficiently as they can.
It needs to be recognized that running down into the basement is an act of cockiness and risk for the Family, extremely so if Leatherface stays down there and both of the upstairs members come down. It means they don't think you've used your time efficiently, that all of you are still downstairs and can't easily get out. All three Family members being in the basement means they've willingly blinded themselves to any progress that Victims could theoretically be making upstairs, which when completely unopposed can fly by incredibly quickly. A single Victim can very, very easily just run out the front door or pop the fusebox while the entire Family is playing grab-ass in the basement entirely blind to what's going on upstairs. The Family does not and never will owe it to you to sit on their hands and wait 4 minutes to let you meticulously prepare yourselves... you owe it to yourselves to make the Family fear underestimating you.
Oh victims are already making a rulebook for family?
maybe other survivors were too noisy? can victim noise wake up gramps before the basement is opened? also you can build a good cook profile that will let him wake gramps quick from buckets but it still takes a couple or more. honestly locking up the place and feeding gramps is the best move for the cook, he kinda sucks at everything else from what ive seen.
everyone is always pointing fingers and saying stuff like "you shouldnt do this" or just silly "you suck if you do this" kind of stuff. if its allowed in game and not a glitch, its designed in there (or wasnt really thought about until the community figured the strategy out) i can see why it may suck to be caught in the basement with all 3 killers but i dont see this much, especially if victims pop more than just one door to the basement, then this is the dumbest thing a family can do, the basement is full of ways for victims to get away from killers, when i play leatherface all i want to do is break down the barricades and get out, i wont chase you very far unless you keep coming around the same way as i am so limited down there and easily just kicked around even though im like what 300lbs 6'5"?.
how about i wont call you names for hiding in the bushes forever if you dont call me names if i stay there right with you lol. if you think their is a gameplay flaw think about how you would solve it, what ways can you do in game to balance it out (as a survivor group) if its really so bad and a rampant problem think about how the game might be better changed to stop it.
i honestly rarely see this, sometimes hitchhiker runs down into the basement but i stay up top and if leatherface i just want out in the open instead of being trapped in the dark classroom being the one everyone runs around and kicks over and makes fun of lol. i am extremely bad with orienting myself in the basement, sometimes i am more lost than you guys and their is always the one exit my fat ass cant use because i cant climb ladders with a saw !
