The official "Nerf Danny already for Christ's sake" thread №69.
Why 69? Well, because funny number, that's why.

But that's beyond the point. The point is that sweaty Danny mains (who now, BTW, are picking Danny at the very last second of lobby since no one wants to play against them anymore, lol) have managed to single handedly suck out all the fun from playing as Family, so I tried to play Victims for a change. I even managed to get Danny once, and yeah, I don't know what the devs were having when they created him, especially with their entire rethorics of "victim gameplay should be stealth centered, we are fixing Rush Meta's", it was definitely not the same stuff that Sam Lake has in his mug and calls coffee. He is fine at low leves, since it still takes some sort of effort to play him, but once he gets level 3, he is no better than you average friend cheater.

1) Insta gaining knowledge needs to go, like, yesterday. Have a 50% faster styding object on level 3 if you so want, but gainin knowledge just by making a glance at stuff honestly feels like hacking. And speaking of knowldege

2) Who's bright idea was it that using a little more that a quarter of Knowledge meter allows you to instatemper the Fuse Box with a push of one button? Look, I'm fine with instatempering, since it's Danny's main mechanic, but it should be a weapon of Endgame or last resort, not the way to cheese the hell out of game. If you want to instatemper valve or fuse box, you should have full Knowledge meter, otherwise, what's the poing of even trying.

3) Danny's tempering SHOULD be disrupted by Family attacks. I once saw a Danny, taking like six or seven hits from Hitchhiked while tempering the valve, finishing said tempering and running away because the devs decided that it would be a good idea to give him as much health as Leland and Ana has, because clearly he wasn't broken enough already.

People who are comparing him to Connie should actually play both him and Connie. Connie can instaopen door, yes, but she has a long cooldown, pays for opening that door with her stamina and is extremely squishy which makes her a primary candidate for Leatherface's one shot, while Danny would just brush off the fully revved Bubba's chainsaw and escape, especially since said chainsaw would stall anyway, because surprise-surprise, the lateast patch that was supposed to fix Leatherface's chainsaw stalling didn't fix jackdong.

TL;DR Danny is a fun character at lower levers, even tho Knowledge meter is busted, and can still be countered, but the moment he gets level 3, he turns into the official cheat that they sell you for money. He sucked out all the fun from playing the Family, especially for solo players since the only ways to get him are if Danny is absolutely retarded or you have a really strong team with communicatons, and not all of us have that, and he sucked all the challenge from the Victim side, since all you have to do now is wait near the exit for Danny to temper with fuse box or valve, and escape within a minute or two.

But I am sure that the devs are recieveng the feedback, listening to us and looking at this situation, and I am sure that they will fix the situation in the next patch.
By nerfing Johnny again.

P.S. To those of you who are about to tell me that "Then they should nerf Nancy as well!": have you played her? No, honestly, have you played her? There is a good reason why you don't see her in game half the time, while every lobby is infested with sweaty Danny mains.

It's not a matter about balancing to them y'all.. it's a pay 2 win ploy that many devs use to make money. Guaranteed when enough sales have been made they will nerf him down to a casket. i don't think anyone with a brain thinks that anyone having a power to permanently open an exit is fair and if they do that's hella corny

DbD used to routinely do this pattern with new character releases for many, MANY years. Now it happens moreso on licensed characters while homebrewed ones are usually pretty balanced for the most part when released. See: Most recent DbD killer: Chucky.

The Pattern™
  • Release a character with artificially boosted OP perks/abilities that can only be obtained by purchasing said character in order to entice sales.
  • Everyone rushes to buy the current FOTM P2W characters.
  • After the sales drop off, this is about the time player numbers are starting to dip because players are getting tired of dealing with the OP perks/abilities.
  • Nerfs come shortly thereafter, which naturally draws back in players now that things are "balanced". It's theorized that the "nerfs" are the actual intended power levels for the OP perks/abilities, but naturally devs will deny this 100% of the time. Thus the "artificially boosted" in quotes.

First time is happenstance. Second time is coincidence. Third time and beyond it's an established pattern. DbD hit 3rd stage. TCM is currently at 1st. Time will tell if it they continue The Pattern™.

It's not about balance, it's about money. For now - just dodge Dannies and send them back to their 10 minute queue, like a Gigachad.

Yeah, like I said, the bastards learned the trick and are now switching to Danny in literally the last second of lobby, not giving you time to react.

The can't switch in last 5 seconds, can they?

That's exactly what they do.

Danny is fine. Killers just can’t handle not winning all of their games.

Gonna have to use some better bait to catch me, but I'm sure you'll get the argument you're fishing for from this comment from someone.

Or as the "cool" kids say: GR8 B8 M8

Stop buying these overpriced characters and it will stop.

Is it still bait when it's true?

Please just leave Johnny alone he has nothing but his lounge!! He's nothing like Danny.

Danny sucks, I agree with you on all points.
I also have absolutely zero fun when the game ends after 1-2 minutes because an exit is open forever! I then leave the game. Maybe I'll start with lobby dodging, but that's difficult in a party. It always dissolves.

What defines a win for victims? 3 or 4 escapes? I'm a victim main (queue mostly as victim) and even I would admit having a member of the team that can permanently open exits is total cheese.

Just 1 - their own. Victim objectives are individual based whereas killers are team based.

Oh, I love Johnny. But it apears that the fate of a new Pig awaits him, because the devs have this weird obsession of trying to nerf the only thing Johnny good at, while their response to Danny being a literal cheat that they sell for 10$ is "We need more data". No you don't, you need to play test your damn game, both with Danny's stupid overpowered ability, and with Nancy's poisoned attacks, where they literally took Sissy's poisoned attack bug that everyone was complaining about, and gave it to Nancy as a perk.
