How to earn points as hitchhiker?

Barely getting any. I spent the game getting blood, trapping people, and I only got 450 points at then end. It's like I barely did anything. I also run Scout so its hard to kill people.

It's hard. You get 0 points for setting traps, and only when snaring people. Feeding gramps only gives 10 points unless the feeding levels him up. Have to hit people and get kills to reliably get XP, but even then it's low.

In general the family gets hosed on XP.

They nerfed it, he now only get's like 50 exp ONCE per lock. But his scanning ability still gives him a ton load of points if u use it all game and also feeding.

You need to capitalize on victims getting snared, and turn that into a kill. Put 3 points into your harvesting for 25 so you can carry 100, and level up grandpa whenever you can. Family gets a good chunk of xp for leveling grandpa. Spec your ability tree into trap damage / bleed damage, put them in high traffic spots and don't be too far to get those kills and reset the trap.

set traps, but not 500 miles away from each other that you can reach a victim fast and kill it. For the rest feed grandpa and patrol hotspots. Sissy is harder because her cloud only last 50 seconds. But hitchhikertraps stay "forever" and can be replaced...
