The Texas Chain Saw Massacre
Why do the Sawyers/Slaughter family still eat victims?
They obviosily have enough money since they own some cars, a ranch, and a gas station. Why would they still need to reslort to cannibalism if they have money and property, despite what the original movie would have us believing that they are broke when they clearly are not?

On the other hand, their property is run down with all the cracks and holes in the maps, but both leatherface and grandpa wear suits, have sledges and a leatherface has a chainsaw.

I've always thought the whole losing their jobs and falling on hard times thing was just kind of an excuse. All the things they had seem like they were likely stolen from their victims, and they don't seem to even use most of them, as i doubt robbery was ever the point but rather satisfying their vile desires is the main goal. It seems likely they were murdering, cannibalistic people for quite some time before the slaughterhouse close, and maybe it shutting down just kind of drove them into overdrive, made them do all this crazy stuff more openly, and start making mistakes and getting notice from the outside world. Although, of course, like a lot of serial killers, at some point they reach the stage where they don't really care about any consequences, and are just acting on of pure homicidal impulses.

Kind of just assumed that it was tradition at this point, they don't HAVE to but they still do to honor Grandpa or whatever.
