I agree, though it could use a filter. The game is clearly aimed at adults and teens, but going full gore at least to the ESRB is "Adult only", so having a toggleable option for more gruesome violence on display could balance between this.

I think this is funny because if you really remember the first Texas Chainsaw, the gore was pretty minimal compared to what we see today. A lot of scenes are blocked out or straight cuts before anything really gory occurs. It isn't until later films things got more graphic.

Hello! Our Brand Strategy Lead gave a response to this on our official subreddit, r/TXChainSawGame, here:

"The Tech Test is not the final version of the game, so that's important to note here first and foremost.

As for our vision for gore in the game, we are definitely trying to stay as true as possible to the original film, but also we understand that modern horror fans expect a little more... blood for their buck, if you know what I mean.

We are definitely pushing past the absolute minimum gore in the original film, but not by much. We aim to be somewhere in a spot where the gore level is a bit more free flowing but still close to the original film, as above all else, authenticity is our focus."

I agree with people above should be toggleable

Some days it's alright but other days I don't feel like looking at stuff like that

Another main reason is PEGI ratings, this cannot be toggled on/off. The further you go the more you close a part of your audience, a game has to sell after all. Limiting gore provides that.

But this is a good response in terms of marketing/community management, I'll admit.

Original film ironically wasn't gory, it was all about the tone and atmosphere. I thought that the game in the tech test captured it pretty well. It felt brutal but without excessive effects.

I wouldn't mind it as a toggle but to be honest gore is a turn off to a lot of players, maybe even the majority of players. Plenty of great horror films have very little to none of it.

I would disagree that excessive gore is immersive at all, I just find it campy or silly, not horrific.

Right amount of gore would be great, not over the top but not PG, not to mention different kill moves/styles.
