If your VPN provider supports split tunnelling you can exclude the IP's that the game uses from the VPN. Usually you just put them in a txt file, anything in the list goes out to your ISP normally, but your Twitch / Youtube stream traffic will go out to the VPN gateway and both will still work.
You can see all the IP's the game uses by running RESOURCE MONITOR in windows, selecting the BBQ Game EXE from the first tab then going to the network tab. Be aware when you pick FIND A GAME, and its searching, you will see a tonne of Azure IP's pop into the list (20.x.x.x USA / 40.0.0.x SG / Y.x.x.x (whatever EU uses)) then drop out, you need to exclude all of these temp ones as well or you wont find a match. Also note AWS uses a host name, you need to exclude those too.
I've got a list of IP's as i was curious what happens when the games running, but it will depend on where on the planet you live.
Side topic. Why people in Asian / Oceanic countries play on servers in US is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ beyond me. There is AWS and Azure in both Australia Singpore Japan....
