To be fair, Evolve actually put 4v1s on the map in 2015, something most don't realize. The irony is people cancelled Evolve when even in it's abandoned state 8 years later is far higher quality and better as an experience than DBD is with 7 years of content updates.
DBD is trash that has ruined this genre by lowering everyone's standards. This Genre could've been so much more if Evolve got the traction it deserved.
F13 release date: 5/26/17
DbD release date: 6/14/16
EDIT:
Or hell, if you even want to go further:
Evolve release date: 2/10/15
F13 hardly started the genre.
Thats true, I keep forgetting about Evolve, great game too btw.
DBD did not set the stage in my opinion, i am well aware when it was released. Trash game, trash model.
These games got developed because of how successful DBD turned out to be.
You can choose which game is the best/worst model all you want, that's fine. As you said, that's your opinion. But don't make claims that a specific game "started a genre" when the facts clearly show it didn't.
DBD is the reason TCM exists whether you like it or not.
DbD was the first massively successful asymm game, sure, and influences other games. But again, was not the first game for the genre as a whole, thus didn't define or start it.
Or let me guess, you're also one of those that think World of Warcraft was the first MMORPG as well?
Most people havent even heard of evolve because the time it came out DBD didnt exist but look at TCM its getting lots of players because of DBD.
Evolve released February 10, 2015, which started the asymmetric horror genre, 100% not DBD. Friday the 13th was in development in early 2015 over a year prior to the release of DBD (May 2016), So not true that DBD started anything, nor did it influence F13... Totally separate game play style.
but at TCM launch many people love asym because of DBD.
