Controller problem
I'm having an issue with controller input. I've tried both wireless and wired and get the same result. The game keeps forcing itself to keyboard controls unless I am actively pressing a controller button. The in-game icons for controls are rapidly flickering back and forth between KB&M and Controller prompts. For the most part, I am still able to play the game it's just an extreme visual annoyance. However, when it comes to locks, I can't make any progress because it keeps flickering in and out of controller mode. I've even tried just unplugging my keyboard once the game is launched and it makes no difference. I've also tried Big Picture Mode and get the same result. Additionally, I've tried multiple controller profiles through Steam and nothing changes it.

Has anyone else had any similar issues or do you have any possible solutions?

Ah sorry I forgot, I've tried with both an XBOX One Controller (Microsoft brand) as well as a PS5 dualsense controller. Both are recognized and function ok, but it's as if the game can't figure out whether I'm using a controller or keyboard and keeps shifting back and forth endlessly.

Sadly, no. I sucked it up and just played with it because it's mostly just a
constant annoyance, but unlocking things was super annoying.

Sounds like keyboard key is stuck pressed. Can happen if there's something trapped under a key somewhere. Or just a faulty sensor. Go through and wack every key and give it a shake over a bin to get any dust and crap out.

Have you tried unplugging before you start the game?

yes, I tried just disabling the keyboard altogether as well. The thing is, it only happens in this game so I'm doubtful that it's a hardware issue.

Plenty are using keyboard and Xbox controller and not having issues though.

Are you using Steam controller stuff by any chance? Can try disabling that for this game. Honestly I've only ever had issues in games when using it.

Other than that, maybe it's the opposite problem where controllers are dropping connection and then immediately reconnecting, so the game detects the device dropping and switches back to keyboard.

And failing everything else, assuming it's a more expensive keyboard, can buy a cheap MS keyboard (actually great, it's what I use!) and see if temporarily adding that as a device whilst disabling the other one would help.
