Unless I'm playing wrong, Victim is just terrible right now.
I have played about... 8 victim matches right now, and no matter how stealthy I try to be, the moment one person has their eyes on me, I'm basically dead. Just had a match where I was doing fine and got out of basement, but the second I went upstairs, Hitchhiker turned the corner and just instantly killed me from full?

This game could be great, but right now it's just annoying playing Victim over Family.

Just had another match, got out of the basement just fine, but as soon as I'm above ground I died within 20 seconds. I'm gonna just live in the basement from now on.

When you open a basement exit, they know where you're going to appear due to the noise, or at least have a good chance of guessing. So if you're stealthing your way out, you're just giving them more time to find you. You gotta get out of there asap and lose yourself in another part of the map.

I started out playing stealthed and all that happened is I would survive the whole match while others died and then die as the last victim. Have abandoned it in favour of playing more action focused and it's much better. You'd be surprised what you can get done even with Bubba revving his chainsaw right at your back.

All you do is join games with your music blasting so shut up you creep.

I've been enjoying it, even when I die the games are typically fun.

Only reliable way I've found to escape above ground is well diving. I have been looped by some victims through walls in embarrassing fashion, but calling a teammate over to trap them puts an end to that.

I'm not the one who opened the door both times, I followed Leatherface out.

Victim is not hard to win with. Also its supposed to be a horror game you are the survivor you are not supposed to have it easy. It requires communication. You are not expected to win every game sometimes you are going to die.

I think when neither side knows what it's doing, Victims have it rough. As they level up, gain perks and stats and map/game knowledge, it becomes a lot more even... probably even Victim-sided on maps like Gas Station (or in any scenario if you're playing Connie). Victims need to know what they're doing or they're both not going to be able to efficiently progress towards their objectives, and not be able to escape/avoid the Family members, but they'll create a cascade of difficulty for the remaining Victims by failing to escape and dying, leaving fewer Victims for the Family to focus on. Whereas a Family member that has no idea what they're doing can still kinda progress the objectives as long as they know how to run up to Victims and hit M1, their map knowledge is less relevant, and if they screw up they don't get knocked out of the match and leave the Family team shorthanded.

I mean, jumping down the well is certainly the easiest and most universal way to escape. It's functionally a guaranteed escape at the cost of health and going back to the basement. All the other means are a lot trickier and more situational. Against the Family that aren't Sissy/Hitchhiker it's definitely possible in certain areas to put a lot of distance between you and potentially lose them through wall cracks or crawlspaces... but these are situational, as most will just buy you a bit of breathing space as the Family member loops around. Leatherface Barricades are probably the safest way to escape that isn't a well... no Family member can follow you over them and they almost always massively screw with the Family member's ability to pursue... as long as you aren't being double-teamed, obviously. If you're being double-teamed in a coordinated fashion than essentially everything goes out the window and you probably need to jump down the well.

You can also buy yourself quite a bit of time, enough to potentially escape, by initiating a Bone Shard clash with a high-Strength character, or juking them enough to shank them in the back with a high-Strength character, or a good Leland shoulder-check if he's leveled up to put them down for a longer period of time.

thing is, there are hopeless situations like getting ganged right after getting out of the basement, being chased by sissie in the basement without bone scrap or reaching deadend while chased by bubba as well in the basement. This often happens within first 2 minutes of the game and victim player cant do anything about it, they just die, making experience super annoying since it happens at the start of the match. Having to wait around 5 minutes just to start a single match bcs of lobby problems adds to it.

Yeah, I find that I spend more time loading than I actually do playing. At least with DBD, which has miserable Solo Q problems, the game lasts longer. In TCM, I can die within a minute or two with no hope, not to mention me finding constant Johnny (tracker guy) and Sissy combos slowing me, grabbing me with a bone shard, and having the other just instantly killing me. Game's just unfun and I don't think I'll continue to play for the time being.

Ur only 8 games in. Once you've learned the ropes, you'll escape the basement in a way that family wont see you (unlock two basement doors. open both but leave from the one that doesn't have yellow flashy).

Watching streamers play.. the number of times they are still hanging upside down and ALREADY getting the killer close yellow and red annoying warning is not a good thing to see. So many streamers are switching to family so they can actually have fun playing is also not a good sign.
