We need a second method of communication
Some people will just play the game muted and there's no way for you to communicate to them, while it's understandable that some people might wanna avoid toxic interactions through vc and maybe some walking boomboxes here and there, there needs to be another way to tell them something.

For instance, I had this Xbox player that was muted and I was prepping for a fusebox escape, I had no way to instruct him to assist me by unlocking the fusebox with a tool he just grabbed, I had a bone scrap to distract family members (playing Leland) so he proceeded to ignore the fusebox in his face and slammed some doors and the killers started to heavily patrol the fusebox since then.

Maybe some pointing emotes or a ping system? Even if it's people that are near you can see it'd still be really helpful to have some means of communication for people that have voice chat mutted.

It has nothing to do with "toxic" interactions, people in general don't like using comms with strangers even in games like CoD the majority of lobbies are silent.

It's interesting that many games push teamplay and comms so hard now, it gets harder and harder to carry games or play solo.

Any console players tried plugging a USB keyboard in?

But yeah I do agree that emotes and gestures would be good, typing is going to get people killed when it matters most.

Trying to coordinate item use and escape routes is the hardest part.

There's many reasons people don't like voice chat on, I was just listing the most common ones as I myself also have games where I keep voice chat off to avoid some heavy cursing on my ears
